The Haunting is- or, was, a normal 'holiday' for the villagers, though they don't see it like the monsters do.
While the students see it as fun, and a way to see all that they have missed, the villagers... well, they see it as a day where the fiendish monsters from the woods show up to scare- or even kidnap and kill- them.
Of course that's not true, but they figured it was.
However, in recent years, these events seemed to stop, and- like tonight, most villagers thought they were safe yet again.
But...

The students grew quieter as they neared the village, and waited in place as a few taller figures cautiously stepped into the clearing; the aforementioned rabbit Murko, a pale-faced, white-eyed ghost with long yellow hair- otherwise known as a banshee, a siren, and of course Mr.Aizawa.
Or, specifically, his head.
The teachers stayed quiet for a while, scanning the rustic houses and pathways for any signs of people who could see, and harm them.
Midoriya, not knowing what was going on, whispered to his 'scare partner', "what are they doing?"
"scanning the area so it's safe enough for us to go out." Todoroki says lowly.
Nejire adds, "they don't do this much, but since it's been a while since the last one we have to be sure."
Deku nods.
After a moment, Aizawa brings his head back, and turns it to face the class. "The coast is clear. Of course, stay with your partner at all times, and be careful."
The students agreed, and soon enough they went their seperate ways through the village.
Izuku took one step into the open, and watched as his classmates started chatting and smiling, looking as excited as ever.|
'What would be so bad about them...we're all just kids, right...?'"Midoriya."
"Hm?" He turned in the direction of the voice, and was met with Todoroki, who was pointing to one of the larger houses.
"I found it."he says bluntly. "Let's go."
"Oh, yeah, okay!-"
"Hey uh, Midoriya?"
The dragon turns again, this time seeing a very worried ghost. "...you might wanna look at this..."
The geenette looks puzzled, but Shouto walks to the direction of Togata. "It's fine. We do have all night."
Izuku nods- to nobody in particular since both of them are in front of him- and follows Mirio to, wherever he just was.
-
"Is there something specific about why you asked for only Midoriya?" Todoroki asks. The boy in front of him chuckles, "Well yeah, you've already seen this place."
Deku would've asked where exactly they were going, but he couldn't shake the feeling that Todoroki was somehow... jealous? No, that can't be it.
"Okay," the ghost says, but it's not in his normal excited tone. "...here." he points, and Midoriya follows his finger, gasping at the nam on the grave.
It was his.
The grave read; 'Izuku Midoriya'
