VALERIUS POV

"Why are you buying a ring?" Lena asked.

"For Grace." I answered like it was obvious.

"Okay, yeah, but isn't it a little too soon? She just let you back in. All you got was one peck and you're ready to pop the question. Lesbians, sheesh." She rambled out.

I lightly pushed the kid. "I'm not proposing, I'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend. The ring is sorta a promise for a future together." I continued to look for a suitable ring.

"So, a promise ring." She went over to the necklaces.

"I guess, only better." I spotted one I liked and called the guy over.

"How so?" She came up next to me.

"Because the ring looks like that."

She looked down at the ring I chose. "Fuck, that's gorgeous and you're definitely proposing. No promise ring is five carats"

I picked up the five Carat emerald cut diamond ring for a better look. "I'll take this one."

"Where are you doing it?" The blonde asked after I paid.

"I'll ask her tonight after dinner." I opened the door letting her walk out before I did.

The kid whipped around, halting my movements with her hand out. "You can't propose like that. It has to be romantic not at a family dinner. Geez Val."

"One, I'm not proposing and two, it's after we all have dinner." She moved in front of me when I tried passing.

"Oh, come on, propose." She stomped her feet.

"Lena I can't jump from being fuck buddies to lovers, to fucking leaving her right into proposing." I frowned at her.

She scoffed and turned around. "Okay, you have a point. But that is a proposal ring."

I rolled my eyes and followed the girl to my car, my car that she now calls her own.

When we got to the much smaller house they now lived in, she wasted no time in letting my mom know. Apparently they all wanted to be closer when Lena started college, so she wouldn't have to drive two hours back and forth everyday.

"Mom, Val bought Grace an engagement ring."

Groaning I followed her in, mom sat with Aurora on the couch. Marcello was probably in his room.

"She's lying, mamma." I sat by her feet.

"Let me see, il moroso." She asked, ignoring what I said.

"Mamma." I whined. "It's not an engagement ring." I took it out and handed it to her.

"How are you doing it? Asking her to be yours forever should be romantic." She smiled down at me.

"That little thing is a fiery one." Aurora laughed.

Again my jealousy showed itself as I remembered what Grace said about her. "Yeah, well, that fiery one is mine." I muttered, glaring at her to which she laughed harder at.

"Relax Valerius, you know I'm spoken for and my love doesn't share." She raised her hands.

"Yeah, whatever." I took the ring and put it in my pocket. "And it's not a proposal." I grumbled and got up.

"You're early." The redhead said after she opened the door.

"I missed you." I leaned down to give her a kiss but was stopped.
