GRACE POV
A knock on my door stopped me from getting dressed. I finished putting on my earings and went to the door. I opened it to find Rae there, a confused look on her face.
"Hi, I didn't know you were coming tonight." I said.
She looked up from the ground. "Yeah, I figured you'd be home from work." She seemed to finally take in my outfit. "Are you going somewhere?"
I looked down at myself. I wore casual clothing but it was obviously not what I wore at home. "Yeah, headed over to Kelly's. They're having a little get together." I told her, only to see her frown.
She slowly nodded, backing away from the door. "Right, I should have called. Have fun." She turned to leave and I grabbed her arm.
"Whoa, what's with that face?" I giggled. She simply shrugged. "You okay?" She nodded. "You look dressed suitable for the occasion." I said looking her up and down.
I pulled her in and grabbed my stuff as she stayed silent. Not wanting to question her dejected mood, I led us out. We got to the parking lot of my apartment building and walked to my car. I noticed she was parked next to me. Before I could go in my car, a hand stopped me.
"What?" I asked confused.
"My car is right here." She gestured towards her Lamborghini.
I raised a brow at the woman. "Yeah," I drew the word out. "And mine is right here. I'm driving." I stated.
She chuckled amusingly. "No, we're not. I'm not going in that thing."
I frowned and glared hard at her. She immediately stopped laughing. "Yes, we are."
"Oh, come on. I can't get in that." She whined.
I scoffed. "What's wrong with my car?" I gestured with my hand to my blue Honda HR-V.
"It's not my lambo." She pouted.
I internally swooned at her cuteness but kept my face neutral. "Either you come with me or you can go home." I shrugged and got into my car.
In no time she was getting into the passenger's seat. "Can't believe this right now." She complained.
Ignoring her, I drove to Kelly and Peter's.

"Are you sure this is okay?" Rae asked as we walked to the front door.
"Yeah trust me, she'll be thrilled." I said, knowing my friend would freak out. She's been bugging me about bringing Rae around for too long.
I knocked on the door and waited. Kelly opened it with a smile that only widened when she saw Rae.
"You brought her." She squealed.
The brunette ushered us in and gave us each a drink. She gave me wine and Rae asked for non alcoholic. There were only six of us at the get together. Along with the four of us, another couple from work was here. It was only then, did I realised this looked like a couples sort of thing. After introduction were made, Kelly pulled me to the side.
"You didn't tell me you were bringing her." Kelly was grinning big. It was honestly a bit weird.
"She showed up and I figured it'd be okay." I shrugged, looking over at Rae. She was currently indulged in a conversation with Peter and Mike.
"She is hot." Tracy said when she came up to us. "Damn, you are one lucky gal." She fanned her face.
I looked to see both Kelly and Tracy eyeing Rae. I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "You're both married women. Knock it off." I said bitterly.
"Oh, is that jealousy I detect?" Kelly batted her eyes.
Yes, it was. I didn't like them or anyone else looking at her that way. "No, I'm just saying." I deadpanned.
"Sure, honey." Tracy chuckled.
"Just shut up, both of you." I gritted out.
I walked off, hearing them laughing behind me. Ignoring it, I went to sit beside Rae. Her hand landed on my thigh, but her attention was still with Peter and Mike. I sat playing with her hand as they talked about boring shit that I had no interest in whatsoever. After we all had dinner, some drinks, and some light conversation, Rae and I said our goodbyes.
"I'll drive." She said, moving to take my keys. "I didn't drink any alcohol." She added when I didn't give them to her.
She was right, I did have a few. "No speeding or I'll kick your ass." I slurred.
She laughed and opened the door for me. "Sure, cara mia."
I waited until she sat in the driver's side. "What, you don't believe me?" I asked with a frown.
She smirked looking me up and down. "I'd happily allow you to."
I scoffed and crossed my arms. "I can take you." Even in my slightly drunken state, I called bullshit on myself.
"I'm sure you can." She answered.
I leaned against the car door and placed my legs on her lap. Rae glanced at me and I heard her lock the doors from her side. Her spare hand started caressing my clothed legs.
"What are you doing to me?" I asked.
"What?" She spared me a glanced before focusing on the road. "Driving you home?" She questioned.
"I'm not looking to get heart broken, Raelynn." I looked down to my hands.
"Good, me neither." She replied after a few seconds of thinking.
I looked at her gorgeous face again. "You can't hurt me." I told her quietly.
"I'm not trying to hurt you." She shot back.
"I'm serious."
She pulled over and faced me. "So am I. You think I'm good at this? I'm not, I don't even know what's going on with me anymore. I'm confused and shocked to say the least, about how much you consume me. I can't even look at another woman, I don't want to look other women. Earlier today, I brought home a kid who had nowhere to go. Me, who doesn't give a shit about other people except for a select few." She looked deep into my eyes. "So, I'll ask you, what are you doing to me?"
We sat staring at each other. Both of us seemingly trying to read the other's intentions.
"Can we just agree that we both don't know what's happening? And that neither of us will hurt the other?" I asked, suddenly feeling emotional.
"Yeah, we can do that." She smiled.
I smiled back.
When we got to my place, Rae helped me undress and prepare for bed. She tucked me in and was about to head for the door.
"You're not staying?" I asked, grabbing her hand.
She eyed me. "Of course I am." I watched her strip and disappear into the bathroom.
When she came back, she crawled beside me. I buried my face in the crook of her neck, feeling her arms around me.
"Good night, la mia piccola rossa." She whispered.
"Good night, baby." I mumbled.
