Chapter 5

TW: mentions abuse, blood, self-harm

It's  been a little over a week since Mei moved in, and a little over a week since Ume did something to Yuzu and since Yuzu cut herself because her mother abuse stopped. Yuzu realizing that her mother won't do anything to her anymore started lightening up. Her bags under her eyes started to fade because she didn't have nightmares frequently, her frown started looking a little like a smile. Her eyes, even just a little, sparkled. Mei noticed all these changes in Yuzu which made even her mood lighter.

After they got to school. People started noticing Yuzu more, not for her delinquent appearance but for her soft and light aura around her. Anyone who got close to her started feeling more comfortable and happier. It was just something Yuzu naturally had, but she didn't show it because she didn't have a reason to. Now she does.

"Yuzuchi!!" yelled out Harumin "Hey!" Yuzu responded. "Did you noticed that everyone was staring at you and starting getting close to you?" Harumin asked. "Yeah, it's kind of awkward and I don't know why." Yuzu responded. "Well it's probably because the mood around you shifted, just being by your side makes me feel like I can do anything!" said Harumin. Yuzu looked at Harumin with confusion in her eyes "HAHA! Why are you looking at me like that. It's true! Hey you, come here" she yelled at some random student to come here. The student seeing them both, who looked like delinquents, got scared and stiff but started walking towards them because she didn't have a choice. "Now look how her expression and mood change as soon as she stands close to you" Harumin whispers. And surely enough the moment she stopped next to Yuzu, her face and her whole body relaxed. She seemed calmer and safe. "See, you don't have to be afraid of us. I just wanted to see you up close cutie" Harumin winked at the student as she sent her away. Yuzu was truly lost for words. "See. I told you so."....there was a moment of silence before they both burst out laughing. Everyone stopped and started at Yuzu because she also had a naturally beautiful smile. After they laughed it off they went to the classroom. As soon as Yuzu sat down, students started swarming her. "Where did you live before?" "Why did you move here?" "Have you ever been in a relationship?" "Are you dating anybody at the moment?" The students attacked her with questions, Yuzu not knowing what to do just sat there unable to answer when she heard a cold voice say "The class is about to start, please go back to your seats." It was Mei. She was standing behind them with a glare on her face. As soon as they saw her everyone went back to their seats including Mei.

Mei's POV

As soon as we entered the academy everyone stared at Yuzu, which made me a little mad. As I was about to enter the academy I heard her laughing so I turned around and saw her bright smile again. But once again, even more students stopped and looked at her while blushing. When Yuzu entered the classroom and sat down. Students almost immediately started swarming her with questions. The questions they asked also piqued my interest and I wanted to hear her answer but when I looked at her she just looked uncomfortable. So I stood up and dispersed the student, as they started leaving her I heard Yuzu let out a sigh of relief, as I turned around to go back to my seat, a small smile formed on my face. Realizing I smiled I quickly returned to my usual cold, serious face. 

No one's POV

When they finished school, Mei approached Yuzu "Don't wait for me today. I have some extra council work to do. Tell mama I'll be home late" Mei said. Yuzu just nodded and left. Harumin had something to do after school so they couldn't walk together. Yuzu having to walk home alone did bring her mood down, but she wasn't totally discouraged. When she got home "I'm home." She said loud enough for Ume to hear. When she entered the living room Ume looked at her with a soft expression. Seeing this made Yuzu's heart flutter, as she never got that soft expression before, except when Mei was around. She saw a glimmer of hope again. That stupid hope again. "Where is Mei?" said Ume. Yuzu flinched at the question. "She had to stay behind to do some council work. She'll stay there until late.". When Ume heard that, her expression went from soft to her usual glare towards Yuzu. "You've been in a unusually good mood these past days. I wonder why that is..." said Ume while still glaring at Yuzu. "I-I.....haven't". Hearing that Ume snapped "YES, YOU WERE! I SAW THAT LITTLE SMILE ON YOUR FACE! I BET IT'S BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DISCIPLINED YOU IN A WHILE!....Come here.." She said in a demanding voice. Yuzu trembled knowing what's going to come. As she approached Ume, Ume grabbed her wooden stick and started beating her back. She whipped her once, twice, three time. She continued until she saw blood coming out. Yuzu tried not making any sounds and succeeded. Seeing that, Ume grabbed Yuzu by her throat and started choking her. As Yuzu was gasping for air Ume said "Don't let my 'softness' get to you. You're still a monster. It's still your fault." as Yuzu almost passed out Ume let go. *cough* *cough* *gasp* Yuzu was finally able to get ahold of some air. As she was gasping and panting Ume said "DON'T let Mei find out. If she does...I'll make you suffer so much that even death won't let you escape." after she said that she went to her bedroom and shut the door.

Yuzu was laying on the floor for about 5 minutes trying to get a hold of her breath when she finally did, she went to her room and just laid down on the bed not even bothering to clean her wounds on her back, she fell asleep. Mei got home an hour later. She didn't say anything because she knew that everyone's asleep. She entered the room and saw Yuzu laying on the bed, trembling and shivering. She was sleeping but her body was in so much pain it trembled by itself. Seeing this Mei quickly took the blanket and covered her. While she waited for Yuzu to warm up she went to the bathroom to get ready for sleep. When she entered the room after 20 minutes and saw that Yuzu was still shivering and trembling she thought she just needed more warmth. So she climbed into the bed, and went to hug Yuzu's back. Yuzu having all those wounds on her back felt a sharp excruciating pain and woke up from her sleep almost yelling out loud but she didn't. She just hissed, jumped out of bed and started panting. Mei shocked to see her sisters behaviour said "I-I'm sorry. You were just trembling and shivering so I thought that if I hugged you, you would get warmer quickly." Yuzu was glaring at her because the pain was immeasurable. "No. It's fine" She left the room and went to the bathroom to go take care of her wounds. Mei still shocked felt something damp on her clothes and the sheets. She saw blood. A lot of blood. She gasped and jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom looking for Yuzu. What she saw when she opened the bathroom shook her to the core.

Damn :( 

Sorry I like to make MC's suffer. I'll try to shorted my chapters in the future so that it won't be so long. Up until now every chapter had over 1200 words, I'll try to make it less. Or maybe I shouldn't? I DONT KNOW.. Anyways, that's all from me, kudos -dittos
