TW: mentions abuse

Mei's POV

We carried Yuzu to her bed again, she was pale, her eyes still drained of life. I took some bandages and wrapped her arms when we were in the bathroom, I kept asking her why she did this to herself. It wasn't enough that her mother, you can't even consider her a mother anymore, beat her senseless until she was barely conscious. It felt like thousands of needles were piercing my heart when I looked at Yuzu, so...broken. I started thinking of how to get her to lighten up, when Taniguchi snapped me out of my thoughts. "I think it's best we take Yuzu to someone else's house. I don't want her to be in the same house as that woman" she said. I nodded, so did everyone else. "I can let her stay at my house. I just need to let my sister know, I think she'll agree without hesitation if I explain the situation." Taniguchi said. "Okay. I'll start packing her stuff. Can someone help me?" I said. Matsuri volunteered, and we started packing her stuff. Clothes, make-up, accessories, and just one picture. It was a picture of Yuzu and Haruki. I studied the picture for a few seconds and realized how bright Yuzu was just 6 years ago.

Yuzu's POV

Mei woke me up from my sleep with a light shake. I opened my eyes and everyone was standing around my bed looking at me. What the hell? "Yuzu. We thought it would be best if you stayed over at Taniguchi's house." Mei said to me. I looked at her, confused, as to why I would do that. She saw the look on my face and answered my question "No one wants you to stay here with Ume. And you need time to heal...both mentally and physically." she said. I looked at her and then at everyone else, they all already had determined faces and I saw they already packed my stuff. I thought about it for a moment and thought that they were right. Maybe I do deserve some rest, a break from all...of this. I already gave up on my life, what could a couple more weeks do. Maybe things do get better and I get to live my life even just a little. That was the hope that was holding me at the moment. I looked at them and nodded.

No one's POV

They all headed towards the exit and started putting shoes on. Harumi already called her sister , Taniguchi Mitsuko, and her sister agreed just like Harumi thought. As they were all leaving, Yuzu was leaning on Mei and Mei helped her walk so she wouldn't fall, Ume came out of her room "Where do you think you're going?" everyone turned around as they heard her voice full of venom. "We're taking Yuzu away from you, you can't hurt her anymore." Matsuri responded. You could see Ume's veins popping out because of fury "NO ONE, can take my daughter unless I say they can!" Ume said. "Yeah whatever, old hag" Harumi said and they all continued walking off, closing the door behind them and leaving Ume behind, infuriated.

When they got down from the building they called a taxi and decided that Mei would go together with Harumi and Yuzu to make sure everything will be alright. Mei had somewhere to stay, her grandfather's mansion, so she was just gonna see Yuzu settled in and leave. Everyone went home and the 3 of them went to Harumi's home. When they got to the house, Harumi's sister was waiting outside. Mitsuko quickly grabbed the bags from the trunk and waited for the 3 of them to come out of the taxi. She didn't know what she was expecting but she sure wasn't expecting a 16 year old kid that was so beat up she could barely walk even with the help of others. She quickly took Yuzu's bags inside and came to help her walk inside. "Thank you" Yuzu said. Her voice sounded dry, emotionless, like someone who was already dead. Mitsuko looked at her and her heart just...broke. She couldn't stand abuse, bullying, any form of violence. They took Yuzu inside and set her on the bed. She was grunting because of the pain, it was hard for her to lay down. "I'll bring you some water and pain killers" Mitsuko said and Yuzu just nodded. When Mitsuko went to get her water she grabbed Harumi and asked her what happened. She kind of knew what happened but not the full story so Harumi started explaining. From start to finish, every detail she remembered. Mitsuko just stood there in shock "Her own mother?" was the only thing she could mutter. "That's not a mother, that's not even human." Harumi responded.

Mitsuko took a deep breath to calm down and went to give Yuzu water and the pain killers. She entered the room and Mei was sitting next to a snoozing Yuzu. Mitsuko put the water and the pain killers on the table next to the bed and gave Mei a soft smile and walked out of the room. Mei was sitting next to Yuzu in silence until she grabbed her hand and clasped it with her hand. She let out a sigh of relief when she felt that Yuzu's hand was warm. It meant she was alright for now. She didn't want to wake her up from her peaceful sleep so she just wrote a note and left it next to the pain killers and left. Mei said goodbye to the Taniguchi's and thanked them from the bottom of her heart. On the way to her grandfather's mansion she was thinking what to do with Ume. What she would say to her father and her grandfather.

Yuzu's POV

I woke up because of the pain and saw the pain killers next to the bed, I quickly swallowed them and sighed with relief. I saw the note and it said "I will be at my grandfather's mansion, while I'm there I'll talk with my grandfather about this matter and what we should do about Ume. Take plenty of rest and drink lots of water - Mei". Yuzu sighed again. While looking at the note, in the corner of her eye I thought I saw someone in the window. I stared at the window for a couple of minutes because I was in pain and couldn't get up. I didn't see anything and thought it was just my imagination, then the effects of the pain killers started and I dozed off.

I think you all know what's coming :D
