"So you and monopoly man?" Alex asked as him and Amelia sat in the lab.
"Who's Monopoly man?" Tom asked looking up from their model.
"Atticus Lincoln. Shepherd is banging him and he bought her that sweet car." Alex laughed.
Amelia rolled her eyes. She didn't want to just be known as the woman "banging" Atticus Lincoln, one day eventually she wanted to "date" him.
"That's your Cadillac in the parking spot? I thought we got a new person to fill in for you or something. Damn Shepherd." Tom held up his fist for Amelia.
"No it's mine. And I'm not fist bumping you." Amelia rolled her eyes.
"Can I get a ride in that thing? Or can you get us some funding. If he'll give you a car he'll surely give to your research." Alex suggested causing Tom to nod his head vigorously like a child.
"I'm not a gold digger." Amelia said.
"Okay says miss brand new car from banging a dude." Tom laughed as he walked out the lab.
"Dude were being serious. You could get us major funding from him." Alex leaned in closer.
"Still not a gold digger. But if you and Tom are nicer I will consider talking to him about it tonight." Amelia smiled as she took the file out of Alex's hands.
Amelia walked down the hall and into the lobby. Meredith and Maggie were talking at the front desk while also staring at their phones.
"Hi Amelia. Will we see you at home or are you going to see Dollar Bills man." Meredith laughed not taking a chance to look up from her phone.
"I don't know." Amelia laughed.
Amelia's phone buzzed and before Amelia could grab it, Meredith and Maggie had grabbed it and opened the message.
"Ms. Shepherd, dinner tonight? My place, can't wait to see you." Meredith read in a teasing voice.
"How's the sex. Like he has to be good, if he's not that's disappointing." Maggie smirked.
"I am going to tell you guys something and you aren't going to tell everyone because I don't need gossip like this spreading." Amelia whispered.
"Go for it." Meredith looked up suddenly her attention sparked.
"He has a playroom." Amelia spat out quietly.
"Like with an X-Box?" Maggie asked in a confused tone.
"No like a sex playroom. With handcuffs and other things." Amelia rambled.
"Wow and I thought you and Hunt were kinky. This is a whole other level.
"Yeah you know what. This is a conversation for ladies night not the middle of the hospital. Give me me my phone." Amelia said regretting saying that at the desk.
"Have fun in your fun time." Meredith called out after Amelia causing Amelia to roll her eyes as she walked off.
-
Amelia reversed her car out of the parking spot when the phone rang. She hit the bluetooth button and continued to reverse.
"Hi." Amelia smiled.
"Are we still good for tonight. Gail has dinner ready." Atticus said.
"I'm on my way now. I'm ready to see you again." Amelia giggled.
"I'm ready to see you too. Drive safe." Atticus said kindly.
"I will. Thank you." Amelia said before she hung up. Amelia drove into the city and pulled into the familiar parking garage.
Amelia walked into the elevator and felt her heart beat faster as the door opened to his dark penthouse. Atticus stood waiting for her, taking her hand softly as she walked in.
"Sorry, I didn't have the chance to change before I left." Amelia smiled nervously.
"Don't be sorry. It's just us tonight anyway." Atticus lead her to the kitchen table.
Amelia sat down with him as they began to eat. Atticus would glance at her during the comfortable silence with his kind eyes and Amelia could feel a blush spread across her cheeks.
They spoke softly and ate just enjoying being back in each other's comfort until Atticus stood up offering Amelia his hand.
"Dance with me?" Atticus offered.
"Sure." Amelia smiled as she got up with him. He walked over to the record player and chose some Frank Sinatra song.
Amelia was too captivated by the moment to care what he chose. This was practically every girls dream at some point that she was living.
Her arms wrapped around his neck as his went to her waist. Swaying slowly to the song taking a few steps that were accompanied with soft laughs.
"I never do this." Amelia admitted smiling at him.
"Me either so we'll just be amateurs together." Atticus pulled her closer.
Amelia laid her head onto his shoulder as the music faded into another song and the night got older. Was she going to hear it from her family when she got home? Yes.
Did she really care in this perfect moment, with this new side of Atticus? Absolutely not.
