Chapter 20: Hope

Clem's POV-

We were getting very close to Wellington. I was excited to see if Y/N survived and was at Wellington.

Beth-" If they have dorms or housing I'll help you move in with Y/N."

Clem-" I can't wait to see him again."

Beth-" What are you going to do when you find him?"

Clem-" I don't know I guess I'll just make it up and do whatever feels right."

Lee-" We're finally here." He said as we walked up a hill.

Mark-" Holy shit those are big walls."

Guard-" Hello. Who are you, people?"

Lee-" We are travelers trying to find a place to call home. Who are you?

Guard-" The name's Edith. How did you find out about Wellington?"

Mark-" One of our old members got split from us and told us that we would meet him here."

Edith-" What's his name?"

Clem-" Y/N." I said she then got a worried look on her face.

Edith-" Uh last name?"

Clem-" L/N."

Edith-" Shit."

Mark-" What is there a problem?"

Edith-" He came here a week ago covered in blood. We thought he was a murder so we turned him away."

My heart sank along with my stomach.

Lee-" How could you turn him away like that? You put a kid out there by himself."

I started to feel like I couldn't breathe anymore. I then started to hyperventilate.

Edith-" What's wrong with her?"

Lee-" She's hyperventilating!"

Edith-" Marcy!"

A girl came out the doors and carried me into a room that looked like a doctor's room and everything started to go black.

Lee's POV-

Edith-" Why did she go down like that?"

Lee-" Y/N L/N is the guy we were asking about. He was her boyfriend."

Mark-" We followed him from Missouri to here. And her figuring out that he's not here made her react to something."

Marcy-" So that explains the chest and the breathing."

Carley-" What do you mean?"

Marcy-" Chest pain and shortness of breathing are symptoms of a broken heart."

Lee-" That's a real thing?"

Mark-" I thought that was just a term."

Marcy-" She will stay here for two days since it isn't very serious and we actually have supplies."

Carley-" Did Y/N say where he was going?"

Edith-" I told him to go to a school in Virginia that starts with an E. It's all kids his age."

Lee-" We probably shouldn't tell her because she'll jump at the opportunity to go."

Mark-" Good point."

I've been searching for the school the guard was talking about for a few days. I still left messages just in case Clem also didn't get into Wellington. It started to feel I was never going to find the school and never see Clem. I opened my mouth and put the barrel of the gun in my mouth. I was ready to pull the trigger.
