Drishti's pov
"Good morning" I heard him say.
My head was pounding as if I had a bad hangover but that was not the case.I saw Rakshit standing beside me with a cup of coffee... I guess.
"Good morning" I muttered not finding any strength to reply due to last night's embarrassment.
"Here... coffee" he handed me my coffee... while I just stared at it.
"It's not poisoned..you know. I can check for you." Saying that he had his cup in his hands and took a sip then sighed in relief.
"No harm you see" he stated dramatically and I rolled my eyes.
Then we had our coffee in utter silence but a comfortable one.
"Want to talk about it?" I heard him ask.
I exactly know what is he talking about..my mother that forbidden topic for me.
But now I feel I have had enough keeping this inside me for years..I ..I need to let it out. I need to get away with it.
But should I trust him with this?"You can always trust me Mrs Shergill" as if he could heard my inner battle he gave the confirmation.
Fine...here goes nothing.
"My mom and I are not the best of mother daughter duo you know" I looked at him after saying and found him nodding as if telling me to continue.
"The reason was she was too straight forward for my liking. She was never there when I wanted her to be. She just wanted to focus on her hobbies...and that's why she never bothered for us to know our hobbies. I always wished she could just spend some time with us... could show some interest in us..but all I would get was disappointment.
When I was nineteen my father had planned a picnic for us with his best friend and his family...and that was not the first time he did that.
Uncle Gaurav and his family were like our own family to us we used to go on numerous picnics outings together. Every one used to enjoy a lot except me... because I always had a feeling that something is not right here...but I never found anything and shrugged not wanting others to spoil their moods. But this one fine day when we decided to go for a picnic...I suddenly caught fever so my father was going to decline the picnic but my mother was hell bent on going...I didn't know why...but she literally begged father to not cancel the plan. So, inspite of my fever I had to join them there I found that aunty preeti Gaurav uncle's wife was coughing badly and wasn't well.
I asked her and she said she wasn't feeling well yet uncle Gaurav was hell bent to not cancel the picnic plan. I was feeling uneasy about the situation and I decided to keep an eye on them" taking a pause I looked at him, he held my hand slightly drawing circles at the back of it and gaining some strength I started again."I saw my mom and him staring each other... showing different gestures and I was old enough to know what was going on there.
I was always a fan of technology hence I learnt to hack some of the cell phones and so I hacked my mother's cell phone and came to know about the lovey dovey messages and constant late night calls."I could feel Rakshit posture getting rigid as a tear slipped my eyes.
"I remember that day...that day I cried myself to sleep. Their conversations went on and on...and she started being distant from us. I was so scared myself I couldn't bring myself to tell dad about this."
Tears started flowing through my eyes as I was vulnerable once again..a total mess.
"Hey...calm down" Rakshit side hugged me and drew soothing circles on my arms.
I inhaled deeply trying to feel better.
"It's okay if you don't want to continue" he assured but I denied...I want to get over with this.
"Few days back when I went home late as I was at Samaira's place she called me names....she said I am characterless whereas its her who owns that title.
I couldn't tolerate her calling me such names so I ...I confronted her and we had a huge fight and so dad and Jiya came to know everything eventually"
"What happened yesterday?" He asked his voice humble as ever.
"That day when Jiya called me and we went home" he nodded reminding of the memory.
"When she was crying her soul out...she she eloped"
"Oh my God! That's why she was so terrified" Rakshit muttered.
"Yes...she ran away with him...that so called uncle Gaurav and yesterday all of a sudden she came back and when I told her we have nothing to do with her...she she said she didn't run away with him.
I want to believe her...trust me Rakshit I want to...but I can't"I started sobbing again and he once again brought me closer to him.
"We again had an argument when I was showing mine and Riva's pictures to Jiya she peeped in and when she saw Riva she once again started calling me names
she said
You...you should have died the day I gave birth to you.
You are the disgrace to family...I so knew it you married that man because you got pregnant before marriage.
Can't believe we didn't know about your relationship.
I told your coward of father to not allow you so much of freedom but that idiot couldn't be man enough to stop you.
Do you even realise how much our reputation will fall because of the stunt you pulled.
You are a characterless girl.
Get lost....I disown you.
I told him every thing and when I saw his face I could see shock, frustration, anger, concern and the one I dislike pity.. sympathy.
"What did you say after hearing those words?" He uttered as if trying his best to not show his anger.
"I said she never owned me in the first place." As I completed the sentence his face was covered with large smile....a proud smile, that emotion of sympathy suddenly jumped to feel pride.
"You are the strongest women I know...and I am so so proud of you" he hugged me all of a sudden surprising the hell out of me.
"Drishi mami...." Riva called and I immediately wiped my face not wanting her to see me crying.
"Hey...princess, we are in here" Rakshit responded and Riva entered.
The minute she saw me she gasped.
"Your eyes are red...just like the monster I saw in Chota bheem" refering to her favorite cartoon character, I and Rakshit laughed at her comparison.
"She just had a heavy sleep...I guess" Rakshit covered up to which Riva nodded.
"Mamu I am getting bored... can't we go out today" she asked an adorable pout placed on her lips.
Rakshit carried her in his big supporting arms and declared.
"We are going to the cinema...what say?"
"Yaaay" Riva screamed in happiness.
"But do they have Frozen movie?" She asked and Rakshit made a face as if he saw an alien.
"That's an animated movie" I answered and Riva gasped.
"You didn't saw Frozen...the frozen movie" she exaggerated to which Rakshit laughed nervously..not knowing what to answer.
"Drishi mami...we have that movie in the pendrive right?" I nodded to her.
"Okay then we are making a cinema here watching frozen" she exclaimed in happiness and Rakshit and I rolled our eyes.
It's going to be a long torturing day...I sighed.
