As the day went by I was walking back to my car. Nancy was going to go home with Barb, so I had time to pick the boys up from school and go check up on the girl who we still haven't figured out her name. But as I was leaving the school someone stopped me.
"Henderson!" A familiar voice calls behind me. As I turn around and saw who was calling me.
"Harrington? What's up?" I ask.
"Well I wanted to ask you a question."
"I don't really know why your talking to me right now." I answer avoiding eye contact.
"I was just wondering if you are coming tonight, you know, for the party?"
"Look Harrington, I would but-" I said but was cut off my Steve.
"Nancy said she's coming. And you did say if Nancy's coming you'll come along." Steve said remembering what I have said earlier.
I sigh knowing he was right and I knew I couldn't let Nancy down either. "Fine I'll see you later then."
"Great. See you later." Steve said and with that he left. I was so confused as to why Steve talked to me but let that go as I was going to pick the boys up.
I went to pick up the boys. I thought Mike would've been with them, since he didn't drive with Nancy and I, and Dustin said he wanted to ride his bike to school I figured they would've wanted to ride their bikes for school.
Lucas and Dustin put their bikes in the truck and got in the car as we drove to the Wheeler's house. On the way there it was silent so I asked them something.
"So Mike didn't go to school today?" I asked.
"No, but do you think the Weirdo did something to him?" Lucas asked.
"Or his mom, found out he had a girl hiding in his basement?" Dustin also asked.
"Okay, first of all, she's not a Weirdo she's just shy, and second, hopefully Mrs. Wheeler didn't find out or else he would be in big trouble." I said. The rest of the drive was quiet as we already arrived at the Wheeler's place.
