~Tony's POV~

I made sure I was a quiet as possible, creaking through the wooden floors of the tower. It was like 3am right now and I didn't need to wake anyone up. I stepped out of Steve's room as silent as possible and tip toad back to mine and Pepper's room. Opening the door, I noticed Pepper was still sound asleep on the right side of the king sized bed, like she always is. I quickly placed myself back onto the mattress, carefully placing the second half of the cover on top of me.

Suddenly, I almost jumped out of my skin at the sudden noise

"I want a divorce." She simply stated, in the same position as she was. Facing away from me, still as a rock. As if she never said anything in the first place.

My heart almost shattered. She really wants a divorce, did she find out about me and Steve, or does she really not love me anymore? Steve was just a side thing, to distract me from the whole Pepper situation. She was always someone I looked up to, stood by my side.

"What." It wasn't a question, I just needed to process this.

"You heard me" She finally turned to face me, sitting up to look at me. "I want a divorce. This fighting cant keep going, I'm sorry Tony. But we both know its been months now. We've tried everything, couples therapy, taking breaks off of work, talking, nothing has worked! I'm so sick of this! I don't get how you're so okay with this constant hatred we have for each other, its tearing me apart!" Even in the dark I could clearly see her eyes too glossy.

"Pepper, it's tearing me apart too! And this thing with me and Steve is just playing around to get me distracted. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt you-"

"Steve?" She whispered, a waterfall freely overtaking her pale cheeks.

I opened my mouth to say something, anything, but nothing came out. I looked pathetic. She whimpered covering her mouth with her hand, looking down at the now tearstained bedsheets. She abruptly ran out, barely containing her sobbing.

I looked down in shame, I squeezed my eyes shut trying to convince myself this was a dream.

The meeting alarm rang through the tower, everyone groaning while leaving through their bedroom doors.

"A meeting? Its 7 in the morning on a Saturday." Clint ruffled through his hair, yawning lazily.

"Literally, who called the meeting? Better not be Stark or I swear I'll break his ribs this time." Sam pulled his shirt on, half way through the door, joining his friend. Bruce joined them, with a look of confusion.

"No, It wouldn't have been Tony. He always checks by with me before he calls in meetings."

"Shame, I was looking forward breaking a bone or two." Sam smirked jokingly, the three laughed.

In the meeting room, the large rectangular clear table reflected from the sun beautifully. The three sat down and joined all of their team mates. The table was finally full. Natasha, Clint, Sam, Bruce, Steve, Rhodey, Wanda and Bucky.

Fury, standing proudly looking back at everyone's grumpy morning faces. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the room.

"Where's Stark, don't tell me he's back in the habit of turning up late to all his meetin-"

"Boss is not feeling well, he told me to inform you he will be missing this meeting unfortunately, but to send him the important info for him to still contribute" FRIDAYS voice interrupted. Fury rolled his eyes, but continued.

"New precautions have been made. We investigated the abandoned building Spiderman led us to, he wasn't lying. They were very dangerous well hidden atomic bombs, with the amount could kill thousands of people." He started walking back and forth across the room. "Our first thought was Spiderman was behind this, but we questioned Nicholas Micheal, the scientist found on the scene. He told us that Spiderman was indeed trying to help, and that Norman Osborn is the one behind this."

"How do you know he's not lying, he could be very well working with spiderma-" Steve started

"We used the polygraph, that thing is foolproof. He was telling the truth."

"So what now? We're meant to go after Norman and Spidey?" Clint pushed his chair closer to the table, lost in thought.

"No, we are going to have to leave the Spiderman case for now. Norman is so much more of a bigger deal. With the money and power he has, no one could tell what he could achieve. He's hired so many people, his goblin logo is spray painted all over town." Nick closed his eyes for a small moment "But if the Spider choses to interfere in this case in any way. If he choses to distract you, or even come close. You bet you're ass you better start shooting. I don't need him bugging me."
