I creak open the back door, trying to make little to no sound as possible. I hear my mom and dad talking in hushed voices.
"She's disrespectful."
"She's a disgrace. She's a mistake."
I let out a sigh. I just need to make it upstairs.
I tiptoe towards the stairs.
My mom and dad go silent. Have I been caught? I hold onto the railing, tight. I walk up the stairs silently. Halfway up, and I hear my mother.
"Bella?"
I turn around, already feeling the tears forming in my eyes.
"Where have you been young lady?" She says.
I can tell she's angry.
"First, you disrespect your father? Then you leave home? Really Bella?"
Her voice begins to rise.
Her voice fades away as I remember the pain in my chin. My vision begins to blur.
Then black.
I woke up in a hospital room. The bright blinding white lights shining on me.
A nurse with brunette hair walks in with bandages and a plastic cup of water.
"Good. You're awake. How are you holding up?" She asked, putting the cup of water on the side table.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"Your chin, honey. It's been split open. You needed 5 stitches. It was terrible."
I close my eyes and try to remember everything.
I'm a disaster.
"I'm fine, thank you." I say. "Where are my parents?"
The nurse sighs, unwrapping the bandages.
"They dropped you off here and left. They told us to fix your chin and bring you back when you're taken care of."
She proceeds to wrap the bandage around my chin.
"Make sure to re-wrap your bandage every night. I'll call your parents now."
The nurse walks out of the room, closing the door silently.
I take a deep breath and lay my head against the pillow. Hospital rooms are as quiet as it'll ever be. I feel a pit in my stomach as I remember my mother yelling at me. I know that I will be grounded when I get home. I close my eyes and put my hands together. "God please don't let today be the last day for me..please." I feel tears in my eyes and blink them away. That's when I remember. I completely forgot about Noah. It was so rude of me to rush away but in the moment I felt the need to. And that's when it hit me. The butterflies in my stomach when I think of him. Then I see my mother walk in the room.
"Come on, let's go. You're father is waiting in the pickup area."
