There stood a young boy full of hope. He looked around checking if everyone was still there. He ran out of the school, the stuff in his bag jumping up and down as he skipped. He held the straps of his bag proudly. His smile is showing, his braces and missing tooth.
"Pico, you're early!" The teacher said with glee.
Pico nodded, greeting her by giving her an apple. He sat on the desk and waited for his classmates to come.
One of his classmates went to the classroom. He gave him an excited wave. She noticed this action, looking away instantly. Pico frowned because he was ignored.
It's been a long day. Pico struggled to go back home. Something happened in school and he wanted to tell his parents all about it. He opened the door, silence greeted him.
"Oh yeah..." Pico mumbled, smiling. "I forgot that they got kidnapped."
"We're taking you with us," Pico turned around. He saw 3 people with uniforms on and a van.
"But I want to go to school," Pico said, backing away.
"You will," one of the people offered to hold Pico's hand. He looked at it fearfully. "We're going to take care of you, we promise."
Pico knew that once he took the person's hand, he'd been defeated. He accepted it anyway.
"Good."
---
"Pico! You can do it. Get up before you get shot!"
"I can't go on," Pico said, his voice dry and raspy.
He was forced to stand up by his friend, pulling him up.
"Push yourself damnit! This isn't our limit yet."
"I can't go on guys. I don't want to be an assassin anymore. I want to go out and play... Be happy," Pico said.
"What's going on over there?!"
"Pico, please. Don't die on us. Remember the promise you made for us and... for that person."
Pico tried to stand up. Despite his body falling apart, he still pushed himself. With the support of his friends, he finally got on his feet.
"We're making up a plan on how to assassinate the target, sir," Pico answered.
"Continue your training and don't waste time!"
---
"Pico!" A person called, running towards Pico.
The freckled face boy looked at them confused. He thought he was going insane. Too insane that he can't puzzle his memories anymore.
"What's wrong with your face?" Pico asked, horrified.
"I get that a lot. But hey! Wanna go play?"
Pico stayed mortified. The face was distorted and really blurry. He's never seen anything like this before. He tried to piece together what the person actually looks like. It's difficult though.
"Oh! Manners. Our mothers always remind us about that. My name is )8&2';."
"Wh-what?" Pico stuttered, feeling overwhelmed.
"My name is 1)#/?z*."
"I don't get you... What's wrong with you?"
"I can't believe you forgot about me. You promised me, Pico."
Pico opened his eyes. He brushed it off like it's nothing when in reality he's been getting the same nightmare for days. He got up and checked the bulletin board. As always, his only goal. Find his kidnapped parents.
Pico's phone started ringing. He received it and put it beside his ear.
"Don't forget about my appointment. I have everything under control."
Pico nodded, ending the call. He was thinking of quitting but it's a great opportunity at the same time.
"Hey Pico. Good luck. We always got your back ever since."
Pico nodded in reply. "I know, Nene and Darnell."
