"shotaro! come help me bring the bags to the car, ask kaito to come help. i didn't realize how much stuff we had." my mom opened the back of the car and ushered kaito and i to come help her.

"bro what's all in here?" kaito huffed out as he lifted the suitcase and it landed in the car with a loud thud.

"uh i don't know, maybe all my life belongings?" i received a soft hit on the head from my mom who was standing behind me.

"don't be rude son."

"he's my friend!" i responded back.

"ooOo" kaito giggled and poked at my rib.

"c'mon boys let's go eat before we need to leave for the airport." my mom held mine and kaitos arm and led us into our kitchen where she had prepared a typical japanese meal.

"woah! this looks delicious! thanks mom." i exclaimed glancing at all the food.

i heard kaito thank my mom and she handed us plates and bowls to start eating.

"woah ms. osaki this is the best food i've had in a while. thank you." we could barely understand what he had just said.

"hurry and eat i don't wanna miss our flight." she commented and i dove into the food.

-

"hey kaito, thank you for everything you have done and helping shotaro with all this. you are a true friend and i will make sure you and shotaro don't lose touch and i'll pay for you to come visit whenever is possible. don't forget we are always here for you and that you can call us whenever you need to." my mother said as she engulfed kaito is a hug and patted his back. i could tell he was trying to fight back his tears.

"it's okay kaito, i'll be crying on the plane if it makes you feel any better." i laughed out forcing a smile as i walked over to them.

"kaito," i started and placed my hand on his left shoulder, " you've been a great friend and i'm so lucky to call you that, i promise that i'll text and call everyday and i'll visit whenever i can, but you better visit me too!" he nodded to show that we had made a new promise.

"okay, okay. i promise to visit you." he pulled out his pinky finger and i entangled it with mine.

i brought him into one last hug before our plane number was bing called over the intercom, "c'mon shotaro, we don't wanna miss out flight now." my mother softly grabbed my arm and pulled me away.

"i'll see you in a couple of months!" i yelled back stumbling to catch up with my mom.

-

"have you figured out what college you are going too here in korea?" my mom sparked a conversation a couple hours into our flight.
