At Citadel in Wakanda...
Wanda sat completely still in her chair, glassy eyes staring straight ahead. Groot sat slumped against the wall, head in his arms. T'Challa was having a whispered conversation with Shuri off to the side. Bucky sat in the chair opposite Wanda, staring down at his interwoven hands on his lap. Sam sat in the chair beside Bucky. Sam looked at Bucky with concern and placed a tentative hand on Bucky's shoulder in comfort. Bucky did not react.
Meanwhile at the Avengers compound...
The Benatar lands on the grass outside the compound. Peter Quill, Drax, Mantis, Peter Parker, and Doctor Strange walk out of the ship and onto the grass. Quill looks around open mouthed, Mantis bends down and sniffs the grass, Drax stands still, eyes roving the area.
Peter Parker runs to the main entrance of the compound and Dr. Strange floats up and past Peter to the entrance, using magic to open the doors. The guardians rush to catch up with Spiderman and the wizard. Dr. Strange lands on the floor inside the compound and closes his eyes, magic glowing around him; around 15 more of him burst from where he is and each float off in a different direction searching for any possible life within the compound. Peter Parker walks down a hallway, head turning back and forth to look for anyone who might be there.
"Hello? Anyone home?" Peter calls out down the empty hallway. There is no response. A Strange clone floats past Peter, eyes moving this way and that. Quill, Drax and Mantis wander into a meeting room with a long table surrounded by chairs. Quill collapses with exhaustion into one of the seats. Drax stands in the middle of the room, turning his whole body around to look in every direction. Mantis wanders over to something on the wall parallel with the head of the table and presses a button.
"Oops." says Mantis. Quill and Drax turn to look in her direction.
Meachile at Citadel in Wakanda...
Shuri walks over to the wall where something is beeping. Everyone in the room looks up and towards Shuri to see what's happening. T'Challa walks towards her.
"Incoming, from the Avengers compound," Shuri informs T'Challa. T'Challa nods. The room is so silent, so full of tension and hope, you could cut through like a knife. Everyone's attention is drawn to the same place as Shuri accepts the hologram call. Mantis is seen by everyone in hologram form. Her face full of surprise.
"I am groot!" groot says as he runs over to the hologram.
