Jin wakes up early at 5am as usual and heads to the kitchen. Taking out a couple of eggs from the fridge and a pack of bread- he starts whisking the yolk and coating the bread with it to make French toasts.

Lining them all up in three separate plates (one plate with ketchup, for Jungkook), he keeps them on the table in their respective places- if it grows cold, they will just microwave it again.

Covering the plates with plastic lids, Jin heads to the small backroom beside the kitchen which can only contain perhaps two boxes and takes out a broom.

He starts dusting the living room, heading to his mother's room next- where she was sleeping peacefully and to his and Jungkook's shared room, where they both slept in seperate beds. He chuckles when he hears Jungkook snoring- not a habit but it does occur once in a while.

There is not much dust as Jin brooms every morning. Finishing with the chore, he decides to make lunch too- so that his mother won't have to work much. It's just half past six am now.

Shifting the noodles in a casserole, Jin heads to the bathroom to take a shower. He remembers to clean thoroughly and shave his face (though he hardly has any stubble) and legs and private areas (it's more of what women do but Jin likes to keep his skin hairless- he feels cleaner that way).

A towel wound around his waist, he comes out of the bathroom and heads over to Jungkook to wake him up.

"Kookie, wake up!" Jin whispers into Jungkook's ear. Seeing that it does not work, he starts to tickle the younger and of course the latter groans and opens his eyes.

"Hyung! I want to sleep more!" Jungkook whines.

"You say that every day, Jungkook. Now, get up! I have French toasts for you".

"Ketchup?" Jungkook asks with his raspy voice filled with sleep.

"Ketchup".

Jin smiles when he sees Jungkook rolling over the bed and getting up.

He starts dressing up in a white clean shirt and jeans (how he wishes he had proper formal clothes) and parts his hair neatly in two sides. Then he quickly brings his bangs in the front- no forehead revealing on the first day itself.

Walking to the kitchen, he prepares a cup of tea and goes to his mother's room- where she has already woken up and wishes him a good morning with a smile.

He hands her the tea and then sits beside her- finally taking in a much needed deep breath.

And it hits him again for the hundredth time. It's already Friday. This is the last day. The last hour before he would have to leave.

To stay in a castle with people so much more different than him.

Jin would not be here anymore on his bed with the Mickey Mouse alarm clock in the side. He will no more be able to wake up Jungkook after tickling him or hand his mother her bed tea.

He would no longer be home.

The sadness and fear of being in a place completely different, working in such a high and intimidating position makes Jin shiver.

His mother notices and furrows her brows in concern. She places a hand on Jin's shoulder.

Jin looks at her and smiles.

Yes. He would do this for her. For Jungkook's future.

He would do this.

"Jungkook, remember to wake up at seven every morning- do not snooze the alarm a million times! First thing you do is wake mom up and give her tea. No milk. Then make breakfast. I have noted down the basic steps to make the typical breakfast dishes along with other lunch and dinner recipes- it will be on the kitchen counter- a blue notepad". Jin wracks his brain on what else he has to say.

"I will try contacting you guys as soon as  I reach...but I don't think that's possible. Though I would call at least once each day- I don't have a phone yet but they must have extra phones- I am pretty sure they will all be iPhones- or I will just use a telephone. Kindly pick it up or else I will worry. Kookie the medicines are in the second cabinet to the-".

"Jin". His mother stops him. She is looking at him with so much love and pride that it makes Jin want to hug her forever and never want to go away. "We will be okay. Please don't worry".

Jin's forehead creases and his eyes start getting wet. He looks down at his fingers that are soft yet calloused from years of work. "How can I....not worry? I...have always been here. To do all those things for you, to take care of you both. I promised Dad I would take care of my family and I have since I was.... eight? I don't even remember. And suddenly....I am supposed to leave-".

"You aren't leaving us, Jin. You are going there for us. And you have always been there for us, Jin. Let us be there for you too". His mother kisses his forehead.

All this while Jungkook has been silent and when Jin looks at him, he sees Jungkook silently crying.

"Kookie!" He cries and immediately wraps his brother in a hug.

His brother who he has taken care of since he himself was a child. Who he had helped dress up for school, who helped the child in his homework, who payed for his tuition.

And even though Jungkook was tightly hugging him now, tears staining Jin's shirt- he could feel that Jungkook too has grown up.

And that he would be able to manage.

He would be.

This is a super short chapter and almost like a filler! I will try to make the next chapter longer! I wanted to portray Jin's role in his family and the things he has been through and how much it is saddening him to leave them for his work, in this chapter. Along with what his usual routine consisted of. This part also tries to show what change and growth can be like.

Sorry for the late update! I have been trying to complete one of my other books.

Hopefully, Jin will get to meet Taehyung in the next part!

Thank you so much for reading 💜🌈💜
