Jin
"I apologise again for Taehyung's behaviour". Hoseok says, once he finishes giving me a tour of the library- it was large and had old school ladders to reach the top shelves. Though Hoseok said I was welcome to come here and read, I wouldn't ever be able to climb up the ladder and take out a book. I would do anything but that- I have no intention of dying inside a royal library.
"It's alright- the prince met me for the first time and perhaps wasn't that comfortable with me. I am sure that our meeting will go well next time". Hoseok seems relieved at that. I then say- "If you don't mind me asking...you and the prince seem very close...are you brothers of some sort?"
Hoseok laughs, bright face going even brighter- his lips making a heart shape. "No but- well, you can call us almost brothers. He calls me as his hyung- I was a child when I met Taehyung- my father was the personal assistant to the king- Taehyung's father. I watched Taehyung grow up and when I was capable enough, I took the job as the working manager and Taehyung's advisor".
Basically, the two spent their childhood together. Jin wondered what that must have been like, to see the Prince growing up in front of your eyes instead of the television.
"Now", Hoseok looks at his watch. "I should leave, Seokjin. I have a meeting and I promised Soobin I would be back soon to set up for it. Come with me, I will take you to Park, he is the working manager of the castle when I am not around- I usually stay at the office and come here during the nights. Park will show you further around and to your room".
We walk down several more corridors- if you look at the castle in the first glance, it would look ancient- like the kind of palaces you see in old and historical movies. However, there is a visible presence of technology in every nook and corner- from the small automatic air freshners to the cameras in the corners.
We finally reach in front of an oak door with carvings on it- something that is there on every door I have passed. Hoseok knocks on it twice and then opens it.
Inside, a tall man around my age, with black hair and large beady eyes, is sitting behind a desk- working on the laptop. His face seems friendly and handsome but the aura he gives off is cold. "Park! This is the Prince's new assistant- Seokjin. The one I was talking to you about".
The man- Park- raises his eyebrows. "Which assistant is this again? The fifteenth in a month? I am sure he will have the same fate as the others". Park's eyes wander down my body, sizing up my clothes and I immediately feel conscious about the hole in my shirt that I had tried to sew. "If not worse".
I frown.
"Come on, man. Don't be negative. It's me who has chosen Seokjin! He is different, I know it. Now, will you please show Jin to his room and tell him whatever information he needs to know? I have a meeting to attend". Hoseok says exasperatedly.
Park sighs then gets up, walking towards me, holding out his hand. "Call me Chanyeol, I will help you around for the first few days and will be there when you have any doubts. Shall I call you Seokjin?"
I take the other's hand and shake it softly. "Yes, or you can call me Jin, either will be okay".
-----
"... the prince doesn't like coffee. Has a weird hatred for it so never give it to him. If he feels like drinking something warm, give him tea or hot chocolate".
Chanyeol has been speaking for the past fifteen minutes and it has given me a slight headache till now. Unlike Hoseok, he doesn't bother taking me inside the rooms or waits for me to understand- he just keeps on giving instructions as if I am supposed to understand it just like that.
