THIS CHAPTER IS DEDICATED TO ALL OF YOU, READERS, BUT ESPECIALLY TO HELEN MCCRORY, THE ONE AND ONLY NARCISSA MALFOY, WHO PASSED AWAY ON THE 16TH APRIL 2021.A little Joanna was running through the castle, hiding from Joffrey, with whom she was playing a game. She was running and laughing so hard that she didn't notice there was someone in the corridor until she bumbped into them. It was her father. She stopped immediately at her tracks and looked at him. She hadn't even hit him hard for she was only five name days old.
"Sorry, father. I was playing with Joffrey and I was not looking. I apologise." She smiled brightly at him and hugged his legs hoping he would forgive her. Instead, he shook her from his leg and threw her to the floor.
"This is not how a princess should behave, Joanna. You are just like your mother, stubbors, careless, evil and I know you hit me on purpose." She furrowed her brow, why would have she done something like that? She knew almost surely that Jaime was her father but, still, she respected Robert and never treated him wrongly.
"That is not true, father! I was merely running from Joffrey!" He looked so angry and smelt of wine, Joanna knew that was not a good thing.
"I am going to have to punish you, Joanna. Come here." Before she could answer, he grabbed her by the arm and brought her to his chambers, once there, he ordered the guards to leave them alone. He got a candle and lit it.
"Joanna, now you will sit and not move or scream, if you do, I will have to punish you harder, understood?" The girl simply nodded, it was not the first time he did this and, surely, not the last one. He took off her clothes leaving her in her undergagements. He brought the flame closer to her body until it touched her. She already had marks across her stomach and back, she simply hissed on pain not wanting to have more punishment. After a few more burnts, he let her go and get dressed again, making her promise him she would never tell their 'little secret'.
I ran my hands over my swollen tummy, it was getting bigger every day. I swer by the end of the week I will not fit in my dresses, not even the ones that had been made just by me. I was seven moons pregnant and living in Casterly Rock. Ever since Joffrey had been crowned king, Ned Stark executed, my betrothed accused of treason and my uncle kidnapped by the Starks, I had left to the Rock to lilve with my grandfather until the baby was born. At first, he had not been very pleased but I was sure it was because he was scared. Scared I might have the same fate as grandmother.
To be honest, I was scared too, I just tried not to show it. I was so excited for my baby to come that I kept fantasizing about him or her. The maester at Casterly Rock was sure it would be a girl, since my tummy was very small compared to other women's. I didn't care, as long as the baby was fine I would be happy.
I started putting on my dress, it was light blue and it matched my eyes. I am sure Joffrey would have loved it.
Once, I finished, I went to the hall to break my fast. Grandfather wasn't there so I was alone with aunt Genna. She is the most annoying, talkative person I have ever met. I was suddenly met by a terrible pain in my tummy, I clutched it trying to ease the pain. Genna must have noticed it because she looked at me worried. She called for a maester and I stood up. As J did so, I felt something went between by legs, blood. Before I could react, everything went dark.
I woke up in my chambers. I clutched my tummy, the bump wasn't as noticable. Maybe I had already had the baby? The maester checked me and said everything was fine, I kept asking about the many but he wouldn't say anything until I threatened him.
"My princess, I am so sorry but your baby didn't make it. He was a stillborn. You have been asleep for nearly a day."
"I want to see him. Now." He hurried off but looked at me with pity. My baby, my poor little baby. I couldn't even do what a woman only was supposed to. I hated myself for not being able to protect my son. My baby boy. The maester came back and placed a small bundle on my arms. My son.
I looked at his little face, you would have mistaked him to be sleeping if he weren't so cold. He had beautiful golden hair and his eyes were closed. He had the most beautiful face I had ever seen. He had my lips and Joffrey's chin. He was perfect. I removed the cloth covering him to be able to fully see him when I saw it. He was like my uncle Tyrion. He was a dwarf.
He had slightly shorter arms and legs but, other that his head being a little bit bigger, he was like any other baby. No, he was better. He was mine.
"My little cub, my little warrior. I am so sorry I couldn't help you. I have never believed in the Gods but, now I hope they exist so they can take care of you. Mummy loves you so much, never forget that." I whispered to him and handed him back to the maester so we could bury him later. I continued crying silently and fell asleep at some point. When I woke up I decided I would go back to King's Landing. I didn't know what everyone would say, what Joffrey would think. I had heard rumours about him but, what I did know is that, the Joanna that left Casterly Rock wasn't the same one that left King's Landing. I was ready to go back to the capital and be part of the game. I was ready to win the Game of Thrones. For Joffrey, for my family, for my house, for my son, for me.
