Chapter 2

“Wow,” Lauren’s jaw drops open, “He kissed you!”

“I know, it’s crazy,” I say, “but oh my goodness gracious, Foster is one great looking guy.”

“I have to agree on that one, Honey.”

I roll my eyes, but continue to smile. “I really want to get to know more about him.”

“Then talk to him.”

“How? I don’t have his number.”

“We’ll find a way.”

“Okay then, goodnight.” I turn off the lamp that rests on the nightstand by my bed.

“Goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite.”

I laugh at this and roll over onto my side.

When I wake up, Lauren is coming into my room from the hallway, phone in one hand and a water bottle in the other. I quietly creep out of bed and onto the floor, on the side opposite of the door.

“Boo!” I jump up and Lauren drops her phone.

“Ruuude,” my best friend jokes and goes to pick up her fallen phone.

“You know you love me!” I say as I go and give her a big bear hug.

“Yeeahh, totally,” she says sarcastically, but hugs me back.

“Let’s go bowling!” I half-yell as I jump out of Lauren’s arms.

“I want to go!” my eight year old half-sister, Adeline, comes barging in my room.

“Another time, Addie, not today.”

“But Alice, you never take me anywhere,” Addie pouts.

“I’ll take you somewhere another time, today I’m spending the day with Lauren.”

“Hmph,” Adeline leaves my room with her arms crossed and her lips still in a pout.

“Addie is so cute!” Lauren says to me.

“Until she barges into your room all the time,” I sigh, “She’s eight years old, and she still hasn’t learned to knock and not barge in. I know the door was partially open, but I don’t like when she is always invading my personal space.”

“I guess, that would bother me too.”

~~~~
“Strike! Now I’m caught up to you!” Lauren does a little victory dance.
“Ruude,” I stick my tongue out in a joking manner, mocking her favorite thing to say when someone does something ‘mean’, even though she actually doesn’t care much at all.
“I don’t know, would it be rude to tell you that your newest friend just walked in the door,” she smirks.
“Foster?” my eyes light up, and I look behind me to see. Sure enough, Foster what-ever-his-last-name-is is standing in line with a friend to pay and get some bowling shoes. I turn back towards Lauren, “he’s here!”
“I can see that. Hey, isn’t that Levi Harris with him?”
I look back at the two guys.
“Yeah, I guess it is.” I continue looking and end up making eye contact with Foster as he is observing his surroundings. I turn back around, but I didn’t miss his eyebrows raising when he recognized me.
I pick up my bowling ball and throw it, watching as it rolls down the lane and all ten pins are knocked down. As I spin around, I hear not only one person clapping, but three. It turns out Foster and Levi got the lane next to mine and Lauren’s, so they were standing near her.
“Good job!” Foster says.
“Thanks.”
“You know, I really didn’t expect you to be here.”
“You also don’t really know me.”
“Okay then… My name is Foster West and this dude next to me is Levi Harris. What are your names?”
“Foster West, Levi Harris, my name is Alice Jenkins and this girl next to me is Lauren Pierce.”
We all exchange greetings, seeing that neither Lauren or I know Levi and Foster that well, and same for Levi and Foster not knowing me or Lauren much either.
The rest of the afternoon was spent bowling, chatting, and eating. I really learned a lot more about both Foster and Levi, and I even got their numbers. Just yesterday I met Foster and told Lauren about how I want to get to know him, and now I spent an afternoon with him and our friends. It’s funny how things work out like that.
