<<<<<Lana's POV>>>>>

*beep* *beep* *beep* *beep* *be-* I hit the off button on my alarm. I roll over on my full sized bed, hang a leg over the side, and continue to roll my body until both my feet are planted on the ground. I stand up and use my iPhone to check the weather for today.

It's Friday, April 12th, 2013. I pick out dark skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a teal sweater with three-quarter length sleeves. Why am I dressing like this in the Spring, you say? I live in bipolar Michigan. To be exact, I live in Mairlton, Michigan. Mairlton is a small town in the lower parts of the mitten and the weather here is crazy! It will be freezing one day, and super hot the next!

I lay the clothes on my bed and head into my bathroom. I take a shower and change into my clothes. I blow-dry and straighten my light brown hair before I put my makeup on. I head downstairs and fix myself a bowl of mini wheats. While I'm eating, my mom comes downstairs. My dad left us when I was four.

"Morning!" I say in an unusually chipper voice. I'm very glad it's Friday and I only have two months, or eight weeks, of school left as a junior in high school.

My mom gives me a warm smile and says, "Good morning, Lana!"

"Mom, can I please go to Rain's house tonight? She's having a small bonfire while her parents are on vacation for the weekend. They told Rain it was okay to have a bonfire." I ask my mom. Rain is just a nickname for my best friend Loraine.

"Sure, are you going to spend the night?" I nod my head. "Okay, be careful and don't get into any trouble young lady!"

"Okay! And I won't!" I laugh lightheartedly and finish my breakfast. I put my empty bowl into the sink and head back upstairs. I brush my teeth and quickly pack some stuff for tonight. I'll be going to Rain's house after school, I talked to her last night over the phone. When I have everything I need, I go back downstairs.

I give my mom a goodbye hug and kiss on the cheek. Then I put on my converse and head outside to my silver Silverado truck. Yes, I have a truck, deal with it. I hop in and head to school.

When I reach Mairlton High School, I park my car in the student parking lot and get out. I go inside and walk towards my locker in the 11th and 12th grade wing.

Mairlton Jr/Sr High School teaches 7th through 12th grade and has around 400 students all together. It has a wing for 7th and 8th grade, 9th and 10th, and 11th and 12th. All three wings connect to a separate "wing" with the office, the cafeteria, the courtyard, the auditorium, the library, and the two gymnasiums. There is a nicer, bigger, and newer gym and the older, smaller gym, which is more so connected to the 7th and 8th grade wing. The newer gym, aka the field-house, also has a weight-room connected to it. Note, Mairlton High is also located in the middle of a cornfield just outside of the small town.

Anyway, when I get to my locker, I see Rain is already there. "Hey Rain!" I say as I get situated with all my books and stuff.

"Hey Lay!" Lay is a nickname that only she calls me. "Are you coming to my bonfire tonight?"

"Of course I am! Mom said it was okay and that I can spend the night too!"

"Yay!" Just then, our other friends Lucy and Alex join us.

"Heyy gurllfrands!" Alex says. We all laugh and say hello.

"Alex, Lucy, are you guys coming to my bonfire tonight?" Rain asks and both girls nod their heads. "Great! Are you two also spending the night?" The girls nod again with big smiles plastered on their faces. "Hooray! Joey, Kyle, and Gabe are coming too!" Joey is Rain's boyfriend, they've been dating for just over a year.

The warning bell rings and we all head to class.
