Rosie’s POV
"Mom is it necessary for me to go." I whined. "Why can't either of you go."
"You need to get involve in the business, so that way when you’re older you won’t be inexperienced."
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms on my chest. We were arguing, well I was she was just not listening. Why can’t she understand that being… whatever they are is not my thing? Every time I brought the subject of me being a photographer my mother just act like I didn’t talk or walks away and my dad he just made me shut my mouth.
"Why can't Nikki come with me? Her parents are also involved in the business."
"No, she can't, but you will have Harry there with you." I gave a look at my dad asking for help, which he reciprocated by covering his face with the newspaper. My mom loved the douche or in other words Harry Smith. She used to gossip to his mother about our wedding together, how sick was that?
I ignored her dull comment and headed straight to my room. I made my way to my closet and decided on wearing a light peach loose dress with a brown thin belt, since it was a cocktail, and my brown sandals. I applied some foundation to hide my imperfections and added a light shade of pink to my cheeks, a bit of mascara and a coat of pink lip gloss. My hair was wavy so I didn’t bother on brushing it. I grabbed my bag and keys and headed downstairs. I opened the door and surprisingly Jake was on my door steps.
"What are you doing here?" I chuckled at the sight of him.
"I thought maybe we can spend the day together, you know umm... If you want to, of course." He looked down at the ground whilst he grabbed the back of his neck. I noticed he was nervous because of the way he bit his lower lip. Nervous? No, I was probably imagining things. To my amazement, the fact that he came here to spent the day with me made my heart beat faster than usual. In any moment, I thought, it would jump out of my chest. This ‘I like him’ thing was going too fast for my liking.
I thought about the cocktail I needed to go, but my parents never listen to me so why should I listen to them? "Sure, let's go." I walked to him and jumped behind him holding his waist tight in the process. At that moment, I wasn’t scared to fall off because I knew he would be there to catch me. There was something about him that I couldn’t put my finger on, but that thing made me feel secure, protected. I could run a mile, fight with a lion, and do plenty of dangerous things with him and I will still feel safe.
"Hold on tight."
The day was perfect; the sun brightened above us with such a force we would melt at any moment. The white clouds adorned the perfect blue sky, making different figures as the wind moved them. I could smell the fresh air as it hit my lungs. I laid my head on his back absorbing our surroundings. We stopped at a red light and suddenly his body tensed underneath me. His gaze was on the car next to us, a woman sat on the driver seat with a guy next to her. She had blonde short hair and big brown eyes. When she turned her face and her eyes met Jake’s her whole expression changed into relax to fear, but why? As soon as the light turned green, Jake sped as fast as the motorcycle could go leaving the car behind. I was scared due to the speed he was going to. I was gripping his waist harder and harder as he drove.
I was scared, frightened, terrified. After speeding for a while, he made an abrupt stop and quickly jumped out of the motorcycle. We were on the side of the road, not a single car passed beside us. I followed him, but I kept my distance. From where I was watching him, I saw the way his eyes shone indicating they were filled with tears clouding his vision and his face was red. Then he snapped. He started kicking and stomping on the few trash cans that were there.
