I pushed my shades further on my face and looked over at Maxwell. He seemed to be enjoying the food he was eating. I however hated eating outside and to make it worst it was a public place.
I looked down at the expensive shoes Maxwell brought me and took another sip of cranberry juice.
"I just can't live with the fact that Jenn is pregnant and my father knocked her up."Maxwell complained.
"You need to make up your mind, one minute your standing by her, DEFENDING her and the next minute your talking about her."I huffed and sat back it got tiring hearing about Jennifer all the time.
I licked my dark lips slightly and raised an eyebrow telling him to watch his answer.
"Selena?"A voice asked. I turned and quickly regretted it forcing a smile on my face.
"William, Hi."I said
"Who are you?"Maxwell asked defensively.
"I'm the father of Selena's baby."William murmured and then stepped back, he had a little girl no less than 4 trailing behind him.
I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from screaming.
"William I told you not to come back here, I made sure...."I began before the tears started spilling, I looked down at the girl who looked just like me.
"Yeah I know but it's time you've met your daughter and gotten to know her, she needs you." William sat next to me, I threw my arms around him and sobbed.
"Mommy, don't cry"The little girl shouted throwing her arms around me I couldn't help but cry even more.
When I looked up William was gone, no where to be seen. I looked over at Maxwell who looked heart broken.
"Max I.."I frowned and sighed.
"What's her name"He asked lightly.
"Faye, I can explain later but let's get her home."I lifted Faye into my arms and grabbed her suitcase that had been placed by my side.
The drive home was silent except for Faye and I singing nursery rhymes.
"Maurice make a child's room across from ours thank you and goodbye."Maxwell clicked off the phone and looked at me.
"That was supposed to be our child."He whispered.
"I met him 3 years ago, I was a call girl he was one of my more private calls. I was mute so I didn't talk much. But this one boy wouldn't stop badgering me, he was persistent in dating me. I wasn't interested, every chance he got he saddled up with me and I was pregnant and my mother made me leave the baby on his doorstep. Harold thought that with the baby out the way I could focus more on my next assignment you."I let out a huge sigh.
"I thought he was out of my life forever."I whispered, I felt a warm hand envelope over top of mine.
"It hurts a whole hell of a lot but it's okay, I'll take care of you both."I poured and whimpered.
"I'm sorry to spring this on you."I sobbed light and clung to him.
"Come on Faye, time for bed."I lifted her in my arms and watched as she cradled into my chest.
"I love you momma"she murmured softly. My heart swelled with guilt and pain, I abandoned the one thing that could have saved me. I rocked her to sleep and cried for what seemed like hours. Maxwell just rubbed my back and gave me reassuring kisses.
"Sleep tight baby girl"I whispered lightly, I tucked her hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead.
"She's sl--"I paused seeing Maxwell sleeping on the bed. He looked so peaceful, My heart broke considering everything that happened today.
I frowned and walked back out to the hallway, I slid down to the floor and cried, curling myself into a ball.
