When I opened my eyes I saw white, it's a ceiling, painted in white, I turn my head around the room, there were flowers, balloons, stuff toys and a banner that says “GET WELL SOON, DETECTIVE GABRIELA PRESCOTT!”
There were apparatus on the other side of the bed, I have a dextrose and oxygen, I pulled out the oxygen, I close my eyes again and took a deep breath, when I opened my eyes, I saw our Captain and the rest of my team entering the door.
PETE GARISSON: “There she is. Looking good boss!”
They’re all smiling at me, Cpt. Fuller hold my hand and said.
“It’s nice to see you breathing Gabby.”
ME:”You mean I was dead?”
PETE GARISSON: “almost, we lost you for minute’s boss!”
ME:”How long I’ve been out?”
HANK BUCKNER:”Two years.” There is a smile on his face so I know he was joking.
CPT FULLER:”I was gonna say five.”
PETE GARISSON:”We have a lady president.”
We all laugh, and then I felt the pain strike on my flank.
HANK BUCKNER:”Are you okay?”
I smiled at him and said “Never been better.”
CPT FULLER:”Great, I’m gonna have to break the news with you then since you feel all better now.”
ME:”Please don’t tell me Pop Candy is alive.”
CPT FULLER: (smiled) No, he’s dead and six feet under the ground, so even if he’s alive there is no way out.”
I sigh with relief.
ME:”then what’s the news?”
CPT FULLER:”Since you doesn’t have a partner; I will announce who will replace your old partner. TONY COME OVER HERE!”
It was Tony Brown, the good looking operative; Tony waved his hand at me and gives him his killer smile.
TONY BROWN:”Hey boss!”
ME:”Hey, so you are my new partner?”
CPT.FULLER:”Actually he’s Pete’s new partner.”
PETE GARISSON:”Wait!...What?”
HANK BUCKNER:”I asked chief here if I can replace Marty, I mean Gabby and I made a very good team.”
CPT.FULLER:”And I agree, so, Pete meet your new partner Tony Brown.”
Tony reached Pete hands.
TONY BROWN:”It would be my great honor working with one of the finest detective in Ores town.”
PETE GARISSON:”Now, that is what I called a partner, welcome to alpha team partner.”
After a few chats they all left, except for Hank.
ME:”So, you are my new partner?” I smiled at him and he gave a smiled back.
HANK BUCKNER:”Just be a good partner, alright!”
ME:”Hmmm, I’m gonna try.”
Then we both laugh.
I really appreciate the second life that bestowed upon me, I realized fate let me live, I have a purpose.
This is my second life, and I am not going to waste it.
New partner, new life, new beginning.
Then I thought of Marty Talons.
“May he rest in peace!”
