Real killer (Chapter 64)

We reached Sid's home and we both walked inside, I was looking down the whole time. Suddenly I got a call, I picked it up, not bothering to see who it was. 

Sm1: Hello, is this Avneet Kaur?

Avu: Yes, who is this? 

Sm1: We are from xyz hospital, Mr. Adam had given us this number to call if he doesn't answer. We wanted to inform you that Sana Nigam will be discharged tomorrow at 10:00a.m., and you have to fill some documents also. 

Avu: Ok, and can I change the last name? 

Sm1: Yes you can, we'll keep new copies ready of the birth certificate, it was the only document filled. 

Avu: Ok, thank you ma'am. 

Tomorrow is the day Sana Nigam will come home as Sana Kaur. I smiled slightly, I lost a life today, but another is coming. 

Sid: Avu, we have reached. 

I looked up to see him standing near my car door, waiting for me to get out which I did. He closed the door and we went in. He rang the bell as I called Ash. 

Ash: Hey Avu. 

Avu: Ash, did Vishal come?

Ash: Yeah he did, we were just watching a movie, did you reach your uncle's home?

I didn't answer as his last words ran through my mind. I felt someone shake me and when I didn't respond take my phone. But I didn't care, the last moments of Adam's life playing in front of my eyes as more tears came in my eyes. I killed so many people today, but one death affected me, the one who I didn't kill, but death of a loved one. 

Sid: Avu, let's go inside. 

I nodded, not looking up as I followed him inside. I finally looked up to see Vibha aunty, as Sid went to the kitchen. She looked worried seeing my tear stained cheeks and watery eyes. 

Vibha: Avu, kya hua beta? [Avu what happened?]

I didn't respond as I just stared at her. Sid came back with water and gave it to me. I drank it quickly, my dry throat now feeling better. Mum asked the same question. He looked at me, like asking if he can tell. When I nodded he turned to mum. 

Sid: Avu ke uncle ki death ho gayi kuch der pehle, dono mujhe us base par mile jo hume kal bataya tha us gang member ne. Woh Adam uncle the? [Avu's uncle died some time back, I found both of them at the base the gang member had said. Was he Adam uncle?]

Avu: Hmm. 

Just then Abhi bhai and Vaishu di came down and looked shocked to see me. 

Vaish: Avu kya hua? [Avu what happened?]

Avu: Adam uncle ki death ho gayi. [Adam uncle died.]

Sid: Par Avu wo humare saamne ki... [But Avu in front of us ki...]

I immediately cut him off. 

Avu(shout): Maine kaha na woh killer nahi hai. Killer ko tumhare officers ne us din maar diya tha station mein. [I said right he is not killer. Your officers killed killer that day in police station.]

All looked at me in surprise. 

Sid: Jisne us din mujhpe goli chalayi, woh killer tha? [The person who shot me was killer?]

Avu: Ha. Chachaji sirf us killer ke bhai the. [Yes. Uncle was killer's brother.]

Vaish: Lekin tune bola tha ki wo tere papa ke bhai hai.[But you said he is your father's brother.]

Avu: Jhooth kaha tha maine. Par wo mere chachaji se kam nahi hai. Unke killer ke sath kya relations the, farak nahi padta mujhe. [I had lied. But he's no less than my uncle. I don't care about his relations with killer.]

Sid: Ok. Unka funeral kab karna hai? [Ok. When do you want his funeral to be done?]

Avu: Aaj hi. [Today only.]

Sid: Thik hai. Ash aur Vishal idhar hi aa rahe hai, aur unhe sirf itna pata hai ki tu humare ghar aayi hai. [Ok. Ash and Vishal are coming, they just know that you are here.]

I smiled gratefully at him as I called the others to inform the others about the funeral. They all said they'll be coming. By the time I went back, Vishnoor had come. It looked like they got to know about the death and funeral. Ash hugged me before giving me a small smile. After the funeral;

Mum had made me and Ash stay at Nigam house only today. Right now we were having dinner when I remembered about Sana and smiled. 

Avu: Acha, kal sabke liye ek bada surprise hai. [I have a big surprise for you all tomorrow.]

I said nervously not knowing how they'll react. More than a surprise it will be a shock for them.

Ash: Kaisa surprise? [What surprise?]

Avu: Woh mai kal bataungi. [I'll say it tomorrow.] 

Ash: Thik hai. [Ok.]

We continued our dinner, but what I found strange was that I saw hope for something in Mum, Abhi bhai and Vaishu di's eyes. I shrugged it off, still nervous on how they'll react. After that we went to sleep, me and Ash in a guest room. I turned to her. 

Avu: Noor, kal mere saath xyz hospital chalegi? [Noor, will you come with me to xyz hospital tomorrow?]

Ash: Ha, par udhar kyu? [Yes, but why there?]

Avu: Wo kal pata chal jayega. [You'll get to know tomorrow.]

Ash: Ok. Good night. 

Avu: Good night. 

We both slept after that. Next morning I was up early due to excitement and nervousness.
