kumiho and gai had finally entered the second stage and they stood on the edge, watching as the room spins

kumiho glanced away from the spinning room, feeling a slight motion sickness if she stared for too long

just as gai stepped inside, the room stopped spinning instantly—it's a little suspicious but she'll ask him about it later

❝ w-why don't you wait here ❞, she snapped her head towards gai's direction and furrowed her brows

❝ what? why? ❞

he gulped at the eerie tone of hers and looked ahead, ❝ i think it's best you wait for liu and miyo—make sure they're unharmed and i'll check on the other three up ahead ❞

now she was leery of gai. his behaviour is putting her off and she place both hands on his shoulder

he gasped as his back collided with the wall behind him, inhaling sharply when her face was inches away from him

❝ i don't know what's going on with you—you've been jumpy lately ❞, her tone dropped down to an octave as she leaned in closer, nose brushing against his, ❝ it's like you're hiding something from me ❞

but she leaned back and shrugged, ❝ but i guess i'll stay here ❞, one hand slammed against the wall beside his head, ❝ but if you ever think of betraying us then you better watch your back ❞

without a word, he nodded and let out the air he's been holding when she released him. he watched as she sat against the wall before entering the pod that leads to the third floor

❝ kumi, what are you doing here? ❞, liu asked, spotting the girl once he entered the room, ❝ where's the others? ❞

❝ kuga's hanging off the edge somewhere and gai's gone ahead of me ❞, she briefly explained

miyo shared a look with him and went up to her

kumiho winced and swat her hands away when it made contact with the side of her face—must've gotten a bruise from earlier

liu nodded and jumped ahead of them to check the room until it started to spin once again. this time the familiar self-destruct robots appeared out the walls

❝ liu! ❞, miyo shouted and went after him, swiping away the robots with her claws

kumiho stayed put, she didn't understand why the room's going nuts. it was fine when she was there. heck, she even crawled on the roof for fun

she watched as they struggle to avoid the attacks and cursed

❝ behind you! ❞, she warned, jumping into action and shoved them both to the side

glancing back, her eyes widen at the herd of robots heading straight towards her and braced for impact

to the sound of the explosion came the terrible echo of her anguish screams of pain

liu and miyo coughed away the smoke, waving their hands to clear the fog

miyo noticed her body laying on the ground, motionless

❝ take her to safety—i'll get her katana ❞, she directed her orders at liu who sprung into action

the male gently scooped kumiho up into his arms, brushing away the hair blocking her face and grimaced at the sight of her wounds
