Ben
Kat told me all about the crash, the house burning down and how she watched her body lay in the hospital bed. She cried when she was telling me, it upset her how much she didn't know about her life.
"So you've been in a coma for almost 3 weeks?"
"I guess so, but if I'm not dead why am I a ghost?"
"I don't know, maybe there's something new going in the universe where if someone is on the brink of dying they turn into a ghost."
Kat and I sat on the ground of the house, well burnt to a crisp house. The house must have been really old and almost breaking, because not maybe houses can burn down this fast.
I would be so upset if my house burned down, even if I didn't have the best times in it. I've known the house for a long time, it's part of my childhood.
"I wonder if I can still wake up, finally be done with this ghostly figure. I can be a person again!"
"Yeah, sounds fun." I really don't want her to leave me. We've had so much fun together. Once she wakes up, she'll forget about me and I'll never see her again.
"Oh, come one. I won't forget you, how could I. Your the boy who helped me get my life back."
She smiled and gave me thumbs up. A small smile showed up, but I don't believe she will remember me. If she doesn't remember how she died, how is she going to remember something smaller.
We got up from the ground and headed back to the car. Kat wanted to leave this place but before she left, she threw a couple things and screamed. It made her feel much better, knowing the place she hated the most wasn't going to hurt anyone else like it did to her.
I pulled the car out of the ditch and drove back home. Kat and I planned to find out which hospital she was at, in hopes to maybe bring her back. I was reluctant to help, but she's my friend I have. I also have helped her come all this and to stop, it would just be cruel.
We got up to my house and went into my room. Before I could shut the door, my mom called me down.
"I'll be right back Kat, just sit on my bed and wait for me." She nodded her head as I headed downstairs. I made sure the door was closed first so if someone walked past, they didn't see any items just floating in the air because of Kat.
Mom was sitting in the living room, waiting for me. She had her arms crossed and was sitting up straight. I know that whenever she does this she's mad. We both sat there staring at each other, not saying anything.
When she's mad mom waits for the other person to speak first, say what they've done wrong. If no one speaks, then you'll be stuck in this silent staring contest.
"So how's it going? How was your day?"
She said nothing.
"I like the shirt your wearing. Is it new?"
"Don't change the subject. Where were you all day?"
Shit! I forgot to tell her that I was going to be out after school. I usually let her know whatever I'm doing. I'm so grounded for not telling her.
"Sorry. I was out with a friend again. We were having alot of fun that I forgot to tell you where I was."
"Who is this friend that your spending so much time with? Can we meet him? I want to see if he's the type of person you should be hanging out with."
"I promise you can meet her soon. Just wait a couple days, ok."
"Her?" My dad as his head popped out from behind the fridge door. Has he been here the whole time?!
