___________'What the hell?!'
You sprinted with all your might, your legs throbbed with exhaustion. Fear surged through your veins, urging you to push harder, to run faster.
The ground beneath your feet shook violently as if in sync with the pounding of your heart.
With each passing moment, the looming presence of the large demon grew closer, its monstrous form casting a dark shadow over your every move.
The deafening roar of the demon echoed through the air, sending shivers down your spine.
As you run forward, Chris stumbled over a massive tree root, sending him crashing face-first onto the ground. Without a moment's hesitation, you swiftly scooped him up, his arms instinctively wrapping around your neck, and you carried him while still in full stride.
As you glanced over your shoulder, a surge of adrenaline coursed through your veins. The demon's massive form was mere meters behind you, its monstrous claws reaching out in a desperate attempt to seize you.
With all your remaining strength, you pushed yourself forward, your body straining against the limits of exhaustion.
You knew that your only chance was to keep running, to keep fighting against the odds.
"Ray, what's that thing?! Is that in the book too?" Gilda asks, her eyes darting anxiously behind her.
"No, there's nothing! This must be... a demon!" Ray says, panting heavily.
At Ray's words, everyone lets out a collective scream. Demon?!
"I think its some sort of wild demon! Look at that thing!" You yell, glancing back one more time at the demon as its teeth smash into a tree bark, shattering it to pieces.
Don extends his arm forward, signaling the others with a command. With a sense of urgency, we swiftly divide into two distinct groups, each taking a path that split into two.
The demon suddenly stopped, confused before it began to run down the narrow path with the largest group instead.
"Everybody run! Don't look back, just run!" Don urgently shouts, his voice filled with determination.
The demon's massive head collides with a tree, causing its head to get stuck at the split at the base. Its jaws viciously snap at us, desperately attempting to reach us.
"Nice everyone! Keep leading it through these narrow paths!" Don shouts.
'Chris is slowing me down, I won't be able to continue running like this for much longer.' You curse softly under your breath, pushing your exhausted body forward, determined to keep going despite the burning ache in your legs.
Chris's voice cuts through the air, "It stopped!"
You come to a stop, turning to look behind you. The demon now stands at a distance, seemingly lost. Its eyes dart around, searching for any sign of your presence.
Relieved, you carefully set Chris down. "Are you okay?" you ask.
Chris looks up at you, a wide smile spreading across his face as he nods. "Thank you!"
Emma gasps. "Ray, you can't still be thinking of..." her voice trails off. "I won't let you!"
"No, it's not that! I'm not about to make a heroic sacrifice or anything. I'm only taking care of this because rim confident that I can do it." Ray says with a smile on his face.
