Faithful

I wanted to go after her, but I couldn't leave without Devon. I wove through all the masked people and found him by the snack bar. Figures. I grabbed his wrist and hastily made my way to the exit. When we got to the car, I drove as fast as I could, but as my luck of the night would have it, I got stuck in traffic. When we finally reached home, I leaped from the car and ran, as fast as one could in a long ass fancy dress could, up the steps. I swung the door open and was met by a very angry Taylor and she was certainly not happy to see me.

"What did you do?! Sel came home crying and saying she hated you!" She pointed an accusing finger at me.

"Where is she?" I questioned frantically.

"Out back. Whatever you did, you better fix it!"

She was sitting on the dock over looking the lake. I slowly sat down beside her, leaving a respectable amount of space.

"Did you mean it?" I questioned softly while looking down at my hands.

"Did I mean what?" Her voice was strained, so I could tell she'd been crying.

I couldn't look at her. "Tay told me you said you h-ha-hated me." I choked out. "Please tell me you didn't mean it." I begged.

"I don't hate you. I could never hate you. You know that." She sighed.

I closed my eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. "Um, wh-what d-did you m-mean, when y-you said 'this was a mistake'? Did you mean coming to the p-party, or, um, uh, being, ya know, with me?" I braced myself for her answer.

"I don't think our relationship was a mistake, if that's what you're asking."

"w-was?"

When she didn't respond, I began to fear the worst. "No, please. Don't do this. Let me explain. Please."

She nodded her head for me to continue.

"Her name is Ruby Rose. She's about six years older than us. I met her for the first time when I was nine. Then I saw her sparingly over the next two years. She was my first crush besides you." I blushed. "I wasn't expecting to see her tonight and I was just in shock because it's been so long. I in no way, shape or form have feelings for her. I never really did. I was just young and admired her. I'll always be faithful to you. Nothing and no one can change that." I explained. The longer she kept quiet, the more worried I got.

"I had Rob drive me tonight because I had a bad feeling about the party. I wanted to be there in case anything, um, happened. Devon told me who she was when I got there. I just got so mad seeing her that close to you and it hurt that you didn't push her away. The mere thought of you being with someone else infuriates me, but even more so... It terrifies me."

"Ba- uh Sel." I coughed awkwardly.

"You can call me that." She interuppted with a ghost of a blush.

I let small smile cross my features. "Baby, this" I grabbed her hand gently and placed it over my heart "beats for you." I told her with as much sincerity as I could.

"That was corny." She grinned. "But it was sweet."

"Do you forgive me?" She nodded and I hugged her tightly. "I love you Lena." I mumbled into her neck.

"I love you too dork. Now c'mon. I wanna swim." She gave me a sly grin and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. Her eyes danced with mischief, so I caught the message. Most everyone was probably asleep anyway, so it's not like they would see... "Fuck it." I said and stripped down.

I covered her hands with my own. "Let me." I trailed my knukle down the length of her spine as I slowly unzipped her dress. I felt pride at seeing her skin erupt in goosebumps. We had that effect on each other. It pooled around her ankles. She stepped out and looked me up and down with a predatory gaze. I know I was doing the same.

"What did I do to deserve you?" I voiced my thoughts.

"I was just asking myself the same thing." She said a bit sheepishly.

"Shall we?" I held out my hand.

"We shall."

The water was freezing, but we didn't care. We kept each other warm. After about an hour, we crept back into the house to shower and change. Afterwards we grabbed some blankets and pillows and set them up on the roof. Sitting there with her in my arms, I knew what I wanted to do. I was unrehearsed and unprepared, but I didn't want to wait.

"Lena?"

She looked at me in wonder. "Mhmm?"

"What are your plans for the future?"

"Why do you ask?"

I shrugged. "I'm just curious." Lies, but she didn't need to know that.

"I'm not sure. I don't care what happens as long were together."

Here goes nothing...

"The first time I saw you, that day in third grade, I felt a need to be near you that I didn't understand. You completely consumed me. When we locked eyes, my world just seemed to stop. The first time you spoke, I swear on our Lord and savior, my heart fluttered. Then you smiled and my carefully constructed walls were blown to pieces. I damn near melted when you blushed and there was a burning sensation when you kissed my cheek. We were so young, but my feelings were so strong. It's like my soul knew from the beginning it belongs with yours, so I never had a choice with you. I've been yours since the day we met and I spent years trying to get you to realize it. Telling you how I felt was the scariest moment of my life, but it was worth it. I love you because you take away the pain. Everything I've ever been through seems meaningless when I look at you. When we're together everything elese disappears and when we're apart I slowly loose my mind. I'll never be able to quit when it comes to you. You shoot through my veins like a drug. Your touch is addictive, your kiss is intoxicating, your smile makes my heart contract and your laugh is infectious. You shine brighter than the stars, the moon and the sun... and you're all mine." I paused to take a deep breath and calm my nerves. "I gave you my heart the day we met, I gave you innocence eight years later and now... I want to give you the promise of the rest of my life. I don't have a ring, but I can always buy one later..." Her hand went up to cover her mouth as tears flowed freely from her eyes. I took her other hand in mine and squeezed it gently. "Will you marry me?"

"Just a few weeks ago, I thought I'd never get the chance to hear you say those four words." She rushed out before kissing me.

I pulled back and raised an eyebrow. "So is that a yes?"

She popped my shoulder. "Of course now shut up and kiss me dork."

"Nuh uh. I wanna hear you say it."

"Yes I'll marry you." She smiled.

"I can't even begin to explain how happy you make me."

"You don't have to. Just show me."

"I see what you did there." I grinned.

"Oh?"

"Yup." I pulled her into me and kissed her jaw. She tilted her head to the side giving me more access to her neck.

"Show me." She whispered breathlessly.

"Oh I will."

And I did.
