Epilogue:

I watched as she ran through the grass, kicking up the seed heads of dandelions as she did so. The sunlight spilled onto her hair causing it to shine like my eyes as I looked at her. They tackled her, one on each leg and she fell into the dirt, laughing as she went. They laughed too and their laughter ran throughout the peaceful meadow of our backyard. I smiled and the mountains in the distance seemed to smile back. There weren't many clouds, save for a few white puffs, leaving the blue summer sky vast and free, like her spirit.

It had been ten years now, since I thought I lost her. I remembered how I would lie awake, but close my eyes and picture a moment like this and I would beg and plead and pray for this dream to not fade, to not become a nightmare. I used to wonder what if and imagine scenarios in which the possible became impossible and she was gone. Now though, now she's the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see in the morning. She was my first kiss and I know she'll be my last.

The band had released two more albums since her return. The end of our abscense sent the media into overdrive. We did more talk shows, radio interviews and magazine spreads in one year than we had in the combined years of our careers prior. I returned to acting as well. We built our lives together in the spotlight and we continued to do so in the shade.

We got married shortly after her impromptu proposal and started a family as soon as she was legally mine. Recently we had taken an indeffinant break from fame to raise our children because our jobs proved too hectic for the little ones. We also wanted to give them as normal of a life as we could. He had my dark hair in contrast to her brown hair with lighter almost blonde highlights, but they both had paler skin and hazel eyes, a sort of bronzed emerald, making them resemble Demi's mother more so than us. Something I worried would bother her, but she didn't seem phased and if she was, she didn't show it.

Despite her past she was a wonderful mother, rolemodel and wife and her father even turned out to be a pretty great grandfather. She was reluctant to let us visit but after a while it was apparent he truly had changed. His days in jail, the thousands of them, taught him more than any person ever could. They mourned the loss of her brother and his son together despite him getting caught up. She never once blamed Devon for his actions. He was young, lost and impressionable when he ran away and was found by people who took advantage of his weakness and turned him into the monster he never wanted to become. She was the one to plan the service in his honor and the one to tell our children bedtime stories of their uncle and his and her's adventures together as kids.

We saw her father through a glass window every other month. That was as close as we would get for the remainder of his life. He wasn't suprised in the slightest when she first reintroduced us, this time me as her wife and not who he knew as her childhood best friend. He just chuckled and said he always did firgure we would end up with each other, a match made by gods he didn't believe in.

Jay and Taylor married six years ago and were now expecting a new born, their fifth child. Those two had gotten busy. Nix and Carter had a thing behind all of our backs for a long time before finally admitting that they were in fact dating. "Congratulations. As if we didn't already know you guys have been fucking 24/7." is all Demi had to say. After years of attempting to woo Sadie and putting up with her many boyfriends during that time, Cruz succeeded and they had been in an on and off relationship for almost four years. They were engaged and set to get married in the fall. Lastly, Demi caved and allowed my manager to ask out her sister and they'd been together for, like, nine years, so life had worked out for us after all.

"Lynnie look out!" Our seven year old son yelled at his little sister as Demi snuck up behind her and scooped her up, hanging her upside down by her feet with one hand and tickling her with the other.

"Hep Dane hep!" Lyndsey squealed.

"It's pronounced help Lynnie." He corrected and giggled when she crossed her arms and screwed up her face like she did whenever anyone pointed out a flaw in her speech. She was still upside down with her little bowl cut hair sticking hanging in every which way, so I raised my camera and took a picture to blackmail her with into behaving in her teen years. She was five and already a force to be reckoned with. Lord knows what we'd be in for as she grew up. Every happily ever after is just a new beginning.

The End.
