When we arrived back at the house it was just after 5 a.m. We enterted quietly to change clothes and then went out back to the lake. I'd never been down to the far end. We made it there and had to climb down rocks because the land dropped off. A jagged stone wall protruded from the side of the small cliff. One rock in particular caught my eye. It didn't quit look like it belonged there. I reached up and grabbed it, pulling it from its place.
"No fucking way." The stone walls began to shift, opening to reveal a very spacious cave.
"This is like something from a bad spy movie or some shit." Dev laughed. "Part of me doesn't think this is real."
I laughed lightly and started to walk in, when his arm shot out and stopped me. I turned to face him and raised my eyebrows. "Can I help you?" I looked at him expectantly.
"Yeah, um, what the fuck do you think you're doing?"
"Going to find the money, duh."
"What if it's rigged?"
"You mean, like, with booby traps or something?"
"Yeah."
I looked around and shrugged. "Guess we'll find out."
I laughed at his face. He looked absolutely terrified. "You go. I'll stay out here and keep watch."
I shook my head. "Quit being a baby and let's go."
We walked in a few feet only to be met with a choice.
He threw his hand up. "Of course there would different paths! And it's marked with one of five! How are we supposed to know which ones to take?!"
I thought for moment when it came to me. "Remember how dad used to love those military call things?" I snapped my fingers. "What were they called..."
"Jodies?"
"Yeah, those! He would make his men say them while training and stuff."
"Your point?"
"left, left, left, right, left."
"Still not following."
"There's five tunnels for the five directions."
He fought with me for a while before realizing his efforts were useless and giving up. He did however continue to complain and whine about how I was going to get us lost in the tunnels. "Quit your bitchin." I scolded.
There was light towards the end of the fifth tunnel. The closer we got, the more my anticipation grew. As we neared it, I could see a single light fixture hanging infront two metal doors. There was no knob or handle, no lock, nothing. I tilted my head and decided to just push.
"Help me you dickwad."
"What did you just call me... That doesn't even make any sense."
"Whatever, just push."
The doors creeked loudly as they swung open. My face erupted in a smile. "Jackpot."
Stacks on stacks on stacks is the best way to describe my surroundings.
"I've never seen so much money in my life. How are we supposed to get it out of here?" Devon asked as he looked around.
I was preoccupied running my fingers over the blocks of cash. There was a door in the back of the room. It opened with a click. On the other side was the basement bathroom. The door was behind the mirror. "Through here." I called out, answering his question.
"Huh?" He came into view and started laughing. "What the fuck. Really? He put a secret passage in the bathroom? Why didn't he just tell us about this instead of making us go through all that?"
