[I feel as though the setting is unclear and it obviously plays a role, so I'm going to explain it. Demi and Sel grew up in New York (yes I know I wrote Cali in an earlier chapter, but I changed it) and that's where they primarily live still, however they both spend alot of time in LA as well for their careers. The just of the story i.e. the kidnapping, etc. take place in New York. When I say "home" I'm referring to New York.]
You ever think you know someone real well, but they end up being exactly the opposite of what you thought? Or maybe they are still that same person deep down, but somewhere along the line they changed drastically into someone who might as well be a stranger. It makes you question everything you knew, because you had no idea and you just don't want to believe it. How could you be so blind to what was right in front of you? How could you so easily lay all your trust in the enemy after years of training and being taught not to? It makes you wonder if you would've paid more attention, looked closer, not let your guard down so quick, then maybe you could've avoided this. Maybe not though. Maybe this is karma, you know the ole "you get what you dish out" saying? So many lives have come to an end at my hand that maybe it's just my turn. Maybe this is God's way of punishing me for all my wrong doings in this life by taking it away. I wouldn't blame him, but I know someone who definitely will and she doesn't deserve this. Just yesterday we were picking out engagement rings.
In one instant, everything can change...
But there's always hope.
. . .
All it takes is one.
One cause.
One effect.
One simple action to bring my entire world crashing down like an avalanche. Chaos surrounded me, but I stood frozen, my sight zoned in on one thing. One person. I couldn't breathe, couldn't speak, couldn't move... I was rendered completely useless. My mind wasn't able to process what I had undoubtedly just witnessed.
There was no struggle. No warning. Nothing. Just a gun shot and a knife being thrown. It went straight through his head, but it was too late. The damage had been done. It felt as if the ground had been pulled from underneath me and I was falling...slipping under...moving further and further from reality.
I didn't register the flashing lights or the sirens. Only red. All I could see was red. The red that ran down his face matching the red seeping through the material of her white t-shirt. I don't remember riding in the ambulance, only the sound of the heart moniter. I was drowning and the steady beeping was the only thing keeping me afloat. I don't remember entering the hospital, only the silence that comes with a flat line. The moment her heart stopped, mine did too. I don't remember sitting in the waiting room, only the incessant ticking of the clock. I don't remember what the doctor said, only one word. Alive. I don't remember walking into the sterile white room, only the feeling of her hand in mine.
I was never going to let go.

Jay's p.o.v
We all knew something was up. That much was obvious. Something felt off, which caused Demi to be on edge all day, but none of us could have possibly predicted what was going to happen. Dinner was silent, save for the scraping of forks on plates and clinking of bottles on the glass table and the glares between the wonder twins and questioning looks from everyone else certainly weren't helping ease the tension. This continued until we all stood up to leave and wash dishes. A phone ringing startled us. Cruz flinched and Taylor jumped. Devon answered it. The conversation went upon deaf ears for no one, but wasn't understood granted the language he had spoken was foreign and being that none but the two were bilingual. Whatever he said, it was apparent the message was clear to Demi. He reached to his back pocket and whipped out a gun. She barely had enough time to shove Sel out of the way and launch a blade in his direction.
