"This is marigold." Sorrel said pushing a green plant stem with long leaves towards Snowfall.
Snowfall bent down to sniff it and frowned in disgust when she smelled it. The smell was musty and wet, not a very nice one like she would have wanted to think it was.
"It smells of wet bedding and grass." She said scrunching her nose. It was not a very pleasant smell.
"Yes, I know it's bad. But it's good for strengthening and giving energy for travels along with water mint in a mixture. And you'll need to have some before we go to the Ancient Willow Tree I'm afraid." Sorrel told her with disgust sticking out her tongue and shaking her head like she'd just had the taste in her mouth. "I'm not too keen on having that, but it's not exactly the closest place ever."
"And when are we going?" Snowfall asked, wiping her nose with her paw trying to wipe away the marigolds stinging smell from her nostrils.
"We'll leave a while before sunset." Sorrel told her as she turned to get water mint from one of the crevices on the herb stored walls.
Snowfall looked around the Healers den at the clefts on the wall filled with herbs.
The smells relaxed Snowfall. All except for the retched marigold.
Sorrel turned back to look at her after putting the water mint down with the marigold in a pile.
"I do not want to eat that." Snowfall said staring at the mix of herbs. She turned her head away with repugnance. "I do not want to ingest that marigold in my body."
"Your not going to, not yet anyway. And believe me, it's even worse than it smells." Sorrel muttered in disgust. "You can go and get your nest ready in the apprentice den because I know you don't want to be away from your sister."
Snowfall nodded and walked out of the den heading towards the apprentice den, but before she could walk in the tunnel leading to the den, she heard paw steps come up behind her.
She turned around to see Maple standing behind her looking at her.
"Hey Maple what's up?" Snowfall asked looking at her.
"Nothing much, but wanna be an apprentice too!" Maple said sitting down in huff.
Snowfall rolled her eyes grinning, thinking about her own self being like that only a moon ago. She hated to admit it but Sorrel was right, time did go by much faster than she would have thought. "You will be next moon."
"That'll be forever!" Maple pouted in protest.
"I had to wait too you know, you'll be an apprentice next moon." Snowfall explained to her.
"I know that! I just don't feel like waiting that long!" Maple barked at her in annoyance.
"Look, I don't have time for this right now, I need to get my nest ready." Snowfall said turning away into the apprentice den.
She heard Maple grunt in annoyance behind her and walk off.
"Oh, so mature." Snowfall heard Meadow's voice say in a imitating voice of hers from behind.
Snowfall turned around to see the pretty pale brown and white amber eyed apprentice looking down at her. It wasn't until then that she realized how much bigger she was than her, even if she was just four moons older than her.
"What?" Snowfall asked with a shrug.
"You've been an apprentice for, what? 15 minutes and your already acting like an experienced Warrior." Meadow grinned in amusement.
"Well, I had to explain somehow." Snowfall told her. "And I need to get my nest ready."
"Right." Meadow said while raising her head seeming unconvinced.
