For the last three days, I'd been hanging out with Leo and alyse. Separately, of course. I'd also been staying with alyse for those few days. I talked to her mom about my situation at home, which was the hardest thing for me to do. I never opened up to anyone. Not a single soul.
She cried with me and insisted I stay for a while. She knew my mother and father before everything went wrong. Back when alyse and I were just babies.
She told me that they'd seemed so happy together. That my father was one of the kindest men she'd ever met.
And he was like that before I became old enough to speak and be too much to handle.
Alyse and I had gotten close. I hated to admit it but she wasn't so bad. She was there for me when I was at my lowest. I owed it to her to at least let her in a little.
I ended up attending almost all of my classes the following days at school. It'd lessened to me not showing to only two or one. Leo was in my first, second, and third periods. He made sure to sit next to me every class and force a smile onto my face. He'd gotten in trouble for talking a few times each day because he wouldn't shut up.
At this moment I was sitting at the same basket ball court me and Leo had spent our first time hanging out at.
"What should we do?" Leo blocked his eyes from the sun. It was chilly out but the sun was still somehow coming out everyday. The weather here was bipolar.
"I'm not sure. This town is seemingly one of the most boring places on earth." I looked at Leo squinting because of the sun.
"Wanna go to my place and watch a movie or something?" He looked at me.
I stood up and held out my hand. "Let's do it, dork."
He smiled and took my hand standing up. My spirits and motivation had started picking up since I started hanging out with Leo more often. He didn't let go of my hand and began walking towards the direction of his home.
I walked with him and stared at our hands intertwined as we made our way and than up to his side profile. He wasn't paying attention. Just looking ahead to our destination. He seemed to be glowing in the sunlight.
He sure was a magnificent creature. I smiled at my thoughts.
He suddenly left go of my hand and I looked ahead.
He smiled and ran up to his house running inside like an idiot.
I ran after him and he ran up his steps busting open his bedroom door.
His parents knew who I was. They also knew about all the shitty things I've done. But they nor Leo knew about my home life. I do believe they could see Leo was changing me for the better, though. Because they continued to allow me to be around him.
I continued running after him and running into his room stopping abruptly when I hadn't seen him anywhere.
"Come on, Leo." I sighed. He was always playing games and horsing around. I sort of loved that about him, though.
I noticed some pictures hanging up on his wall. I walked over to look at them and stared at a picture of him and a girl I'd never heard of nor seen. She looked fairly older than him so I doubted it was a girlfriend of any sort.
I suddenly felt a jolt on my sides.
"Jumper cables!" Leo yelled as I jumped, turning around and hitting his chest playfully.
He laughed and threw himself onto his bed grabbing his Tv remote.
I sat myself on the end of his bed near his feet.
"What would you like to watch?" He looked at me clicking on Netflix.
"Literally anything."
He clicked on The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
"I think you'll enjoy this one." He smiled, "you can lay back, you know."
With that, I leaned back onto his legs and he moved onto his back, patting his chest.
I hesitantly laid next to him laying my head and hand onto his chest. He wrapped his arms around me. I could hear his heart beat. He also smelled like a mixture of cologne and cigarettes.
It was a comforting smell. We hadn't gotten even twenty minutes into the movie and I fell asleep. Out cold.
Later
When I woke up, Leo was also asleep. He was snoring. I looked out the window to see it was dark and I sat up stretching. The clock on Leos bed side table read "11:30 pm". Shit. We'd slept all day.
"Leo" I began to shake him lightly.
He opened his eyes slowly.
"What's up?" He said in a sleepy voice.
"It's eleven o'clock. I have to get back home so my...mom doesn't worry." I didn't want Leo knowing that I was living with Alyse because it would arise questions I couldn't answer at this time.
"Shit. We slept that long?" He sat up slowly.
"No. I was joking." I said sarcastically.
"Can I walk you home? It's dark." He yawned.
"Or why don't you just call your mom and let her know you'll be here tonight?"
"You want me to stay here? Like all night?" I'm not sure why this had come as a surprise to me.
"Yeah, why not?" He looked at me.
"Yeah, okay." I got up. "I'll go call my mom quick."
I stepped out of his room and closed his door. I called Mrs. Allbrite.
She picked up her phone, "hey, y/n. Are you okay? Where have you been?" She really took on a motherly rule for me at this point. She felt bad that I didn't have my mom so much anymore.
"Sorry, Mrs. Allbrite. I was at my friend, Leo's, house and we both fell asleep. But I'm going to just stay here tonight if that's okay."
She paused for a moment. "Of course that's okay, y/n. Just keep me updated and let me know if you need anything, anything at all. Are you sexually active with this boy?" This made me uncomfortable in the slightest. I didn't think of Leo as even in a relationship way at the time. Or at least I thought.
"No, no. Of course not." I replied after a pause.
"Okay. If anything happens you know to be protected, right? I wouldn't want you getting pregnant at sixteen. You're already going through enough, sweetie."
"Yeah. I understand." There was silence for a minute. "I'm gonna go now, Mrs. Allbrite."
We said our goodbyes and than got off the phone. I stepped back into Leos room and he was already passed out again.A/n: sorry this chapter was so short. I thought that would be a great place to leave off. Hope you enjoyed!🖤
