September 30th, 2020
It's been about a week since I met Leo. And I'd still been hanging out with him everyday. We'd gotten closer and closer time. At this point I could practically call him my best friend. It was crazy how much you could learn about one single person in just a week or so. There were still things to learn, obviously. But I'd known things I could tell not many others knew about him.
The father he has now, is his step dad. But that's never spoken about because he doesn't look at him that way. To Leo, he's a real dad. A true father figure. He had a little sister. But, she died before getting the chance to even be brought into the world. He was seven when this happened. I felt bad because I knew his secrets. But he hadn't a clue what mine were. I hadn't stayed at his house since September 23rd. I didn't really want to. I was scared to get attached that way, really.
I did love him. But I was scared if I had discovered the love I truly had deep down, I'd get hurt. So I kept everything at a friendly stage.
"So how was it with your boy toy today?" Alyse teased once we got up to her room.
I'd just gotten home from being with Leo at the movies. We shared the same interests.
"My boy toy?" I looked at her annoyed. It wasn't an asshole thing. She was becoming someone like my sister.
"Come on, y/n. You can't be that blind? Maybe you should wear my glasses for a little." She took her glasses off and held them out.
"Blind to what?" I pulled the mattress I slept on out from under her bed.
"You and Leo obviously like each other. I've seen you laugh together in the hallways. You cant share a connection with someone like that if you don't like them." She put her glasses back on.
"What would you know about connection, Alyse? You haven't dated a single person in your whole life." I laid down propping my head up with my hand and my elbow against the pillow, looking at her.
"First of all, ouch. And second of all, I may not have dated anyone but I sure have liked someone."
"Really? Like who?" I thought Alyse was far from interested in anyone relationship like. At least she seemed that way.
"You'll make fun of me." She laughed.
"I won't, I promise. Spill the beans" I smiled, sitting up.
"Jackson." She mumbled.
"Jackson Heath?" I laughed in disbelief. Jackson was ten times nerdier than Alyse.
"Hey, you said you wouldn't make fun of me." She threw a pillow at me.
"I'm not. I'm just trying to imagine what it would be like for two nerds to get together. What would you do? Talk about math?" I joked.
"No, you butt munch. Besides, he didn't take interest in me." She lost her smile.
"Why? That's crazy. You guys would be perfect." I wasn't trying to be an ass anymore although my remark sounded like I was being a smart ass.
"I'm not his type."
"That's crazy. You're just his type." I got up sitting next to her.
"Apparently not." She looked down. I could tell she really did liked him. Even if he looked like he belonged on Revenge of the Nerds.
"Let's change that." I smiled and Alyse looked at me.
"How?"
"Just trust me. Tomorrow, before school, don't pick out an outfit or anything. I've got it covered."
Alyse smiled at this, "thank you, y/n."
"Okay, okay. Don't go all sappy on me now." I laughed.
The next day
As soon as Alyse and I woke up, I started looking through her closet for something for her to wear.
"Jesus. All of your clothes are virgin like as fuck. Who shops for you? Your mom?" I was rummaging through the shirts and pants hanging up.
"No, I shop for me." She was brushing her hair.
"Figures. I'll let you borrow some of my clothes." I moved to the other side of the closet where some of my clothes were hung up.
Mrs. Allbrite helped me get some of my clothes out of the house when my father was knocked out on the couch.
I couldn't go in. So, Mrs. Allbrite went in for me. She grabbed everything she could fit into a large tote which was pretty much all of it.
I pulled a dress off the hanger that I'd never worn a day in my life. Dresses weren't really my thing."Put this on." I threw the dress at her. "Where's your make up at?"
"I don't own any." She began putting the dress on.
"Than where's your moms make up?"
"I'm not sure. Ask her."
I walked downstairs to see Mrs. Allbrite sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and reading.
"Hey, darling." She smiled when she noticed my presence.
"Hi, Mrs. Allbrite. I was wondering where your make up might be. I'm helping Alyse dress up today."
"Of course, honey. It's in the bathroom under the sink. There's a little bin." She was still smiling as she help her lipstick stained coffee mug in one hand and and her book in the other.
"Thank you." I smiled and went to the bathroom grabbing her make up bin.
When I walked back into Alyse's room, she had the dress on and she already looked completely different.
"Wow. That's looks great on you. I mean it." I smiled at her and put the make up bin down.
"Really? I feel like it looks bad." She looked in the mirror unpleasantly.
"I wouldn't lie to you. You look great. Now, sit down. It's make up time." I was excited to see what I could do.
I went for something more natural because Alyse had never worn make up before. I didn't want to overwhelm her.As I finished her make up I straightened her hair and the length of it extended down to her stomach. I'd never realized how long it was only because it was extremely curly and always in a pony tail.
She looked in the mirror and her expression was filled with pure joy.
Alyse's mom drove us to school and we both got out after Mrs. Allbrite wished us a good day.
"Go get em tiger." I nudged Alyse.
"Aren't you coming in?"
"Not today. Me and Leo have something planned." I smiled.
"Oooooh, a date?" She smiled back, excited.
"Nope just hanging out. Somewhere better than this dumbass school." I tried to stop smiling so I didn't seem as though I was too excited. I was never really open with how I felt about having emotions. That's why the two relationships I'd been in didn't last long. I was never girlfriend material for my lack of effort.
"Sure." She said sarcastically and went into the building.
I stood outside waiting for Leo. Sure enough, talk, lanky Leo walked around the corner.
"Ready to go?" He had his hands in his pockets."Of course." I smiled at him.
We began to start walking.
"So, you know all about me. What about you?" He glances at me as we're waking.
"Well, uhm. There's actually a lot to uncover there." I hoped he'd just save it for another time.
"I'm all ears, love."
Where would I even begin with all of that and how would I say it?
"Well. I don't live at my actual house anymore. I did when you met me, but I've been living with my friend, Alyse, lately." I knew he was going to ask why so before he could I took a deep breathe and continued, "the reason to that is a story for another time."
"Sounds good." He smiled and put his arm around my shoulders.
I wrapped my arm around his lower back and about a mile later, we arrived at a stadium. We were there to see one of the bands we both enjoyed, f/b.A/n: I'm trying to inquire more picture references bc I feel like that helps whoever is reading get the grasp of what I'm talking about. And, for me at least, it helps me picture what's happening in my head to better understand it. Let me know what you think about adding pictures in. Also, I didn't mean for almost this entire chapter to be about Alyse. It just kind of happened that way. Next chapter will definitely be more Leo.
