Xander's POV

Skylar looked so beautiful. Her long lucious hair danced around her as she tossed her head back and laughed that charming melodious laugh of hers. I smiled to myself. I was so lucky to have her. True, the situation was less than ideal but I don't care. I'm going to have Skylar. I am hers and she is mine.

"Skylar, why don't you tell us some about you? Any hobbies?" my mom asked.

I could tell that so far my parents were impressed with her. I knew they'd love her.

"Well, uh," she started. It was obvious she felt awkward but I could see her beginning to relax. "I like to draw and sing. I'm very artistic."

I could feel my smile widen. My mate must be talented. I want to see her art. I bet it's amazing. Oh God, she sings. Is she a good singer? Of course she is. She's perfection.

"That's wonderful! I, myself, enjoy singing!" mother beamed.

My dad and Xavier both groaned and I inwardly groaned. My mother was a less than good singer. Even my dad knows that. But he says there's something cute about the way she tries.

I looked past Skylar for the briefest of moments to see Xavier looking at her. No, not looking. He was staring. I didn't like it. I didn't like the way he smiled at her, the way he looked at her. She was mine. My mate. My future wife. My future luna.

But he thought exactly the same. Suddenly I felt like tearing his head off. I considered doing just that but then my mother said something that almost caused me to choke.

Skylar's POV

Imagine you're at dinner wtih your boyfriend's parents for the first time after meeting them. Awkward enough, right? Now imagine it isn't your boyfriend, but your mates. Two mates. Two alphas. Really awkward, right? Now imagine you just got asked by their very blunt mother how many kids you want to have in the future.

I choked on my mashed potatoes and Xavier patted my back as Xander scolded his mother.

"Mother!"

"What? I just want to know how many grandchildren I will get, I'm not getting any younger, that's all," she said with a shrug, taking a sip of her water.

Her husband lightly groaned beside her, obviously understanding that the topic of grand children wasn't exactly appropriate at this point in time. "Dear, don't you think that's a little...forward?" he asked.

"No, not really," she replied.

He rolled his eyes and shook his head. Xander narrowed his eyes at his mother before glancing back down at his plate. I finally brought myself to clear my throat and try to change the subject, "So, this dinner is quite lovely. Who cooked it?" I asked her.

Her face brightened immediately. "I did! Thank you, darling. I wanted to impress my sons mate."

That shocked me. She was worried about impressing me? I was the one who wanted to bail when I learned it was a family dinner! Then it dawned on me, I wonder how they told their parents about our situation. I wonder what they said about me. I wonder if their parents will hate me after I reject one of them. That's when my wolf whimpered. I would have to reject one.

I glanced around the table at the family seated around me. There was Xander, he was still obviously flustered at his mother's comment and he quietly ate his steak, then there was Xavier, he seemed cool and collected, also quiet though. Then their parents, they were looking at eachother adoringly and I smiled to myself. I wanted that one day with my mate. Mate. As in one mate. I would have to choose but honestly, I don't think I can.

Is that selfish? To want them both? It isn't fair for anyone involved. One would be rejected or worse, what if they decided to take matters into their own hands? That horrifying thought had been plaguing me all night. They could fight over me. One might kill the other and I wouldn't be able to handle that! Would I wreck their family? Even if I did choose, would one resent the other? Would he resent me? My mouth felt dry and my heart beat sped up, with a shaky hand I reached over to take a sip of my water.

But a hand darted in front of me and scooted the glass closer to me. I shot a grateful smile at Xander, who smiled back lightly. He must've heard my heart beating faster. I took a sip and sat the glass back down. But I met his eyes. Those beautiful, beautiful eyes. I could easily fall into them. There was something playful in his eyes. He was just so laidback and easygoing.

Then there was Xavier. The mysterious one. He was so sweet but had a danger to him. He made me want to know all of his secrets. He made me feel so relaxed earlier and understood my worry about meeting his family. He was just so patient and wonderful.

I couldn't choose anyone unless I knew more about them. After all, the one I choose will be the one I spend my life with.

My thinking stopped abruptly when the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" the giddy Luna chirped.

She stood up and rushed to the foyer to answer the door. I honestly really liked my mates' family. They were so loving and just all around awesome. Then I remembered, I still had to say something about my parents dinner they want to have.

"Xavier! Ashton is here!" She called.

Xavier stood up and Xander let out a low growl. Xavier heard it and his head swiveled towards his twin to give him a glare that made even me shudder. He waltzed off into the foyer leaving just three of us at the table.

Xander seemed on edge so I grasped his hand under the table, hoping it would relax him slightly. I could feel it working as he calmed down a little and shot me a grateful smile. His dad seemed oblivious to his sons agitated manner and instead seemed focused on something.

Suddenly, the man stood abruptly and dashed off into the foyer as well. Xander's heart rate increased and I could tell he was suddenly on high alert. He squeezed my hand tightly and I opened my mouth to ask what was going on but a high pitched scream cut me off.

Sorry it's slightly late. And it's also short. I had relatives in town but I really wanted to get something posted. Anyway, thank you for reading and I'm estimating the next chapter will be up between the 5th-10th. In that range. Before I get out on spring break for sure.

I hope you all enjoyed and for those of you that also read my other books The Alpha's Sorceress and The Devil's Favorite Angel, I'm almost done with those chapters so look for them in the future.

Also, if you're into a romantic comedy with a nostalgia vibe, check out my other book The One that Got Away!

Thanks for reading and feedback is always welcome!
