Skylar's POV
I munched on my popcorn as Colby animatedly told dad about football tryouts.
"They were great dad! I killed it!"
Dad chuckled. "Don't you always?"
"Well, yeah but this time I really killed it!"
I just rolled my eyes and kept watching the Pretty Little Liars marathon that was on the TV. The two of them were at least smart enough to know to only talk during commercials, I don't think they have a death wish.
I was squealing at a cute Haleb moment when the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" My mom announced.
I curled up further on the couch and checked my phone as it turned to commercial break.
"Uh, Skylar, you have company!" My mom announced.
I groaned and sat my popcorn dish to the side before kicking my blanket off and standing. I walked to the door and about screamed when I saw Xander standing in the doorway.
There I was in hot pink Hello Kitty pajama bottoms, neon yellow bunny slippers, and I had a pore strip on.
He cracked a heart stopping grin and chuckled.
"Did I catch you at a bad time?"
"No! Well, yes! But I'm happy to see you!" I said, yanking the pore strip off quickly and cringing as it peeled away.
"Um...do you want to come in?" I offered, dropping the strip in the trash can by the door.
"Well I can't stay long but I wanted to invite you to dinner tomorrow night," he said.
"Oh! Yeah! That sounds great!" I grinned.
He sighed in relief. "Thank God. Well uh, I'm going to let you get back to doing what you were doing."
I blushed and looked down. "Well alright."
"I'll text you in the morning what time, good night, Skylar."
"Good night, Xander."
He smiled once more and walked down the drive and I quietly closed the door behind him. Once I shut the door I let out a loud squeal and started wiggling my butt in a happy dance.
"Who's got a date? This girl! Who's got a date with her hot mate? That's right this girl! Oh thank you lucky bunny feet!" I sang, wiggling my foot and giggling like a twelve year old.
"Mate?!"
"Date?!"
"Lucky bunny feet?!"
Shrieking and turning around I came face to face with my family, all looking shocked.
"Well...frack."
Xavier's POV
I was in the midst of reading the newspaper when my mother stormed into my office.
"Alexavier!"
I put my paper down and glanced up.
"Yes mother?"
"Why didn't you tell me you went out with your mate? I wanted to meet her!" She whined.
"Mother! It was just our first date," I defended, groaning inwardly.
My mother had been driving me up the wall wanting to meet Skylar. My father hadn't been quite as persistent but it was obvious he was curious as well.
She opened her mouth to speak but my door flew open and in walked Xander.
"Hello mother," he greeted kissing her cheek.
"Brother," he said to me with a brief nod which I returned.
"So what's she say?" She asked him, clasping her hands in front of her body.
He grinned. "She said yes."
Mother squealed and clapped her hands together childishly.
"Who said yes?" I questioned, curious to know what got her all excited.
She grinned at me mischievously. "Skylar is having dinner with us tomorrow night."
"WHAT?!" I stood up.
She flicked her hand in the air. "You wouldn't introduce your father and I to her so Xander will."
I slammed my hands down on the table and glared at him. A cocky smirk appeared on his face that I would've given anything in that moment to reach across and smack off. I probably would've done it too, had my mother not been standing mere feet from us.
"Are you crazy?! She's still adjusting! I can't even believe she agreed to this!"
He glanced down and that's when it hit me.
"She doesn't know it's a family dinner, does she?" I asked.
When he didn't reply I knew I had my answer and it was my turn to smirk.
"Alexander!" Mother drew her hand back and smacked him upside the back of his head. I sat down and tried to cover my snickering with a cough when she glared at me.
"You didn't tell her! What were you thinking?"
"I didn't know how she'd react!" He tried to defend himself, looking up at her with wide eyes.
"You're going to call her first thing in the morning and tell her it is a family dinner!" She commanded.
He signed and looked back down. "Yes, mother," he mumbled.
She huffed. "I will see you two both tomorrow night, dress nice," she said and stormed out of the room.
Once the door was shut and she was out of ear shot I smirked.
"Someone's in trouble," I cooed.
His head shot up and he shot a glare at me. "At least I am not hiding her from our family."
How dare he accuse me of hiding her! I'd love to show her off but I don't want to overwhelm her but apparently he doesn't care about that.
"I'm trying not to overwhelm her! Wasn't it you that made me wait to meet her because she needed time to adjust?" I asked.
"But she knows now!"
I rolled my eyes. "You wanted me to be patient so we wouldn't scare her away. How do you think she'll react to being brought along to meet the parents so soon?"
"I don't know! Mother asked me too so I thought it would be a good idea!" He groaned.
"Well you're an idiot." I declared.
He glared at me and turned away, walking off.
He made me wait for Skylar so we wouldn't overwhelm her and after just one date with me he wants to bring her home to the parents! Can't he make up his mind?! All I know is I'm not losing my mate. Not because of him and definitely not to him.
So there's the chapter! Sorry for the wait, I'm sure those of you who had finals get how stressful it can be! I hope you enjoyed and I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and a happy new year! I will see you in the next chapter next year! Hopefully it'll be up by the end of Christmas break! Thanks for reading!
