Bumblestar POV

The two leaders were charging towards me. The RiverClan leader's gaze was as cold as ice, while Rowanstar's green eyes were blazing with fury. I felt nauseous as I prepared to defend myself. Mistystar arrived first, but doubled back. I realized too late that she had been a mere distraction.

I staggered backwards as Rowanstar's teeth aimed for my neck. They found my ear instead. I screeched in agony and lowered my head, sinking my teeth into his forepaw. Rowanstar released my ear and yanked his paw free, leaving behind a few tufts of fur. As I swiped my claws towards his face, pain seared up my side. While I was focusing on Rowanstar, Mistystar had darted forward and joined the attack.

Sensing that Mistystar was behind me, I kicked out with my hindlegs. I heard a yelp and turned to see that I had kicked her right in the eye. In the brief heartbeat that I was looking at the RiverClan leader, Rowanstar charged at me. I barely rolled out of the way on time.

I took a deep breath and tried to think. I needed to deal with Rowanstar first, and to do it quickly. He was already wounded from our previous skirmish, so he would hopefully be the easiest target. I knew I could defeat Mistystar if she was my only opponent.

And if I couldn't eliminate Rowanstar quickly? Then...this was going to be a short and one-sided affair.

But at any rate, how could ThunderClan possibly win this battle? Even if Rowanstar was gone, that wouldn't mean his Clan would stop fighting. One Clan fighting against two...deep down, we all knew how this would end. There was only one possible outcome. But I refused to admit defeat, not as long as I was still alive. Although, I realized, that might not be much longer.

I leapt desperately at Rowanstar, only to be pulled off of him by Mistystar. I flailed about, and was thrown to the ground. I gasped for breath as Rowanstar planted a forepaw on my chest, and raised a paw for the death blow. "Game's over, Bumblestar. This is for Blackstar."

"C-coward," I choked out. "You...couldn't fight m-me by yourself, c-could you?"

I stared at the camp entrance, watching my own warriors flee out through the thorn tunnel. I saw Thornclaw, golden-brown fur matted with blood, staggering towards the tunnel and collapsing near it. ShadowClan and RiverClan were the clear victors today, and for us, all hope seemed to be lost. Then, I felt my heart sink even further as a new wave of cats flooded into camp, led by Ashfoot. They smelt of rabbits and heather.

WindClan. Just what we needed. One Clan against three. Perhaps it was unwise to make so many enemies?

I decided I would be defiant, even in my final moments. "Well, th-this...is a...t-totally fair fight."

To my surprise, Rowanstar's grip loosened slightly and he glanced at Mistystar, looking confused. "You invited WindClan?"

Mistystar shook her head. "No, I didn't."

I studied their expressions carefully. They hadn't known WindClan would show up? Perhaps Onestar had just overheard some of their plans and decided to join the fun. Why else would a large patrol of WindClan warriors arrive at the stone hollow? Had they coincidentally planned an attack of their own on the same day?

Rowanstar narrowed his eyes. "Then who..."

I heaved myself upward, taking advantage of the distraction. I saw a shadow next to me on the ground and glanced over to see Ashfoot standing at my right. I tensed my muscles and sighed in frustration, seeing that I would be forced to fight not just two, but three strong opponents. At least her arrival had saved my life. I waited for Ashfoot to attack me. But she simply gave me a small nod. "WindClan is here to assist you."

I was not one who liked to show my emotions, but my eyes widened, betraying my astonishment. I surveyed my surroundings. Harespring dragged Hollowflight away from Spiderleg, allowing the ThunderClan warrior to concentrate on Smokefoot. Emberfoot knocked Starlingwing off of Leafpool. Sedgewhisker raced across the hollow to help Lionblaze battle Duskfur and Mossyfoot. Ivypool and Gorsetail were fighting side by side, steadily pushing Icewing and Olivenose back.

"Ashfoot!" Rowanstar spat. "Why in StarClan's name would WindClan be helping this tyrant?!"

The dark gray she-cat glared at him. "Ashfoot's not my name."

What did she mean? Certainly that was Ashfoot! There was no other cat around the lake that it could be!

However, I chose to say nothing, and instead leapt at Rowanstar, catching him off guard. I tackled him to the ground, and began clawing yet again at the wounds on his stomach. He howled in agony, and I sensed Mistystar rush over to help him. I looked over my shoulder just in time to see Ashfoot, or whoever she was, intercept her.

WindClan's arrival might have made the battle even. But it was far from over.

A/N: Why did this cat say her name wasn't Ashfoot, even though Bumblestar and the other two leaders thought it was? Who is she really? Why did she say that? What do you guys think? The answer is probably gonna be revealed next chapter :D

Also, how do you think the battle will end? Will WindClan(or maybe it's not WindClan?)'s help be enough to save Bumblestar? Will Bumblestar live? And where is Ratscar?

Thanks for reading, as always, I hope you enjoyed! I will try to update again this weekend and have this book finished by March 3.
