"For the last time, I'm fine. It's been a month. The doctors said it's completely healed and I swear if I have to spend another day in here with you treating me like a cripple, I'm going to pull all my hair out." Your mother's mouth slid shut.
"There's no need to be so rude about it. Most daughters would die for this kind of treatment." She sulked. You just grinned, giving her a hug.
"I appreciate everything you've done mom, really. I honestly don't know where I would be without you."
"Okay now you're just trying to flatter me into letting you go out." you batted your eyelashes at her.
"I'm only going to Sam's. It's literally three blocks down. I promise to stay on the sidewalk."
"No running into the street carelessly."
"I won't, pinky swear."
Seeing you that way had surely taken a toll on her, and since it was just the two of you, the fear of something happening to you was probably her biggest fear. It was the same for you. That promise with Sam was selfish, but you'd never forgive yourself if something were to happen to her. "Please be safe (Y/N)." you nod, giving her back a pat.
"I will."
After her reluctant agreement to let you leave, you were walking down the street to Sam's house. You took a deep breath, relishing in the feel of the wind on your face.
"It's been a while." Since you were pretty much bed ridden for what felt like months, getting up and walking around was the greatest feeling. The only plus of this whole ordeal was no school. Although now that you were recovered you would be starting bright and early Monday morning.
"Worry about it later."
Your eyes catch the yellow of Bumblebee's hood, and your smile is almost automatic. As you get closer, his lights flick on, and you know he's realized. You make your way to the walkway, and as you approach he opens the door. You get in, and it dawns on you that maybe you should check with Sam first, but Bumblebee takes off the moment you get in the car, and you huff out a little laugh.
"You really missed me huh?"
"Yes ma'am!"
He's already speeding for your little spot where the both of you have unofficially claimed as your own.
"I missed you too Bee."
More than he realizes.
~~~
Lying back on the soft grass, you begin to remember just how much you love this place. Bumblebee is laying down too, but he hasn't taken his eyes off you since the moment you got out of his car.
"Bee, I'm okay, you don't have to keep watch." His head turns abruptly in the other direction.
Gosh he was the cutest. You shift over, taking his hand. Now you face him, nothing but your hands separating you. His orbs glimmer with affection, and it's then you realize how foolish you were to avoid him before. Dream or not, it was a stupid move.
"I'm sorry Bee, about before. " If you hadn't acted so childish, he probably would have informed you of the threat earlier. Optimus assured you that there wouldn't be any more attacks. That particular one was merely a follower of Megatron who still held a pretty healthy grudge to the ones who took down his boss. They were more prepared now, and Bumblebee was surely going to be guarding you and Sam like a hawk from here on out. You were in good hands.
"It's okay." you gripped his finger tighter, resting your head right against his face plate. He was so forgiving, didn't even demand an explanation for your behavior.
"I love you Bee."
You weren't sure you'd ever gain the courage to tell him that outright, but for now, you were content with these little moments.
