Cameron POV

Even though I had one black eye and had pinched the other shut due to the sudden flash of light filling the room, I knew exactly who it was.

"Hey Dallas." I could recognize that voice absolutely anywhere. Brynn. I couldn't help but to allow a small smirk slide itself onto my face. She actually came to see me. That must mean that-

"Don't go smiling and gettin happy Dallas. I'm not here to fuck you." She interrupted my thoughts and I couldn't help but laugh.

"What's so funny?" She asked, slightly offended.

"You actually think THAT'S what I was thinking?" I paused, trying to allow her to answer but only got a confused look and a small nod.

"Not at all Brynn. I know you'd never do that. I was thinking that if you came to check on me you must care just a bit, right?" I could see a light shade of pink spread across her face, and just as quickly as it had appeared she took a deep breath and it faded, leaving her chuckling.

"Don't get ahead of yourself Dallas. I was just here to make sure you were alive, and now that I've seen that I'm going to go light one up and get outta here." She looked around the room and rolled her eyes.

"And Dallas..?"

"Huh?"

"Never mind. Just be careful from now on, you're not allowed to die yet." She said as she walked out of the room, her eyes lingering on the bouquet of flowers that my mom had brought me. I saw a look of sadness- maybe jealousy?- crept onto her face but disappeared before I could say anything.

"Later Cameron." She sighed as she exited the room, her voice hitching as she said my name, causing my heart to flutter for a moment before leaving my mind in absolute confusion. She was perfect, she was the only girl I wanted out of all the girls who eyed me up and down and tried to flirt everyday, I kept my heart under lock and key, and she was the key.

"Ughhh!" I let out a small, frustrated, moan. Chasing her around and trying to win her over was getting hard. There were times that she acted like she felt the same towards me as I do to her, but other times she acted as if I never mattered to her.

I rolled over and allowed to take the drowsiness to take over once again and fall back to sleep. The doctors told me I could leave after staying for two days, meaning I only had to stay for one more. I slowly drifted to sleep and let the numb pain of my arm dull out with the medicine flowing through the IVs in my arm.
