The Unexpected Maze Runners

Chap 14: Troubles

Newt's pov.

Kylie fell asleep in my arms when she finished eating. She looked so peaceful. I looked up at Minho to see Haley drifting off on his broad shoulder. "Take her to her room. I'm taking Haley there when I finish eating." Minho said putting an arm around her shoulder and contiuned eating his food.

I nodded and carfully picked Kylie up without waking her and carry her ourside when Chuck comes up to me. "She looks knocked out. She and the others worked really hard on the Glade for the party. It looks amazing." Chuck said walking next to me. Thats when I really looked around it. The stage was in front of the North doors and it was prefectly set up with speakers on either side.

The DJ stand was to the right of the stage up in the watch tower. The builders were finishing putting logs at either end of the stage and it formed a large square. On the left of the stage was the forest and the trees were covered with neon lights. Frypan's food stand was facing the forest near the watch tower.

I nodded. "Yeah, the girls did an amazing job. I bet if any of us boys tried to do any of this, it would look like bloody hell." I said making us laugh. I tried my best to be as quiet as possible, afraid I was going to wake Kylie up. "Shhhhh." We tried to shush the best we could and went our separate ways.

I walk up to our room and lay Kylie down on the bed. I slip in and cover us with thin, but warm blankets. I fall asleep with my love in my arms.

Haley's pov.

I woke up just to quickly shut my eyes again. The window was uncovered. Usually the windows are covered by planks of wood. But it looks like it was busted though. I also relized that Minho wasn't here either. I look at my watch, panicking that I might have missed my shift as a Runner. Alby would be so angry at me. But it was only 5:00.

I get out of bed and got ready. Once I stepped outside and everyone was gathered in the middle of the Glade. Then I saw Kylie walking towards the Deadheads. I run to catch up with her. By the time I do catch up, she is sitting on a log. She is playing with her fingers when I reach her.

"Whats going on? Why was that big crowd gathered around in the middle of the Glade?" I asked sitting next to her. "Greivers." Kylie whispered in horror. I was so confused. "What about them? What happened? Is everyone ok?" I asked needing answers. "They came and took Zart. They took him." She screamed the last sentence.

She has become very close with Zart. They cared about each other a whole lot. They were like siblings. Sometimes Newt does get jealous but he knows that they could really could be related. By now her eyes were really wet with tears threating to come out. I didn't know what to say. Nothing could really help the problem.

Instead we cry. Side by side. We cry together. I wonder why they took Zart away. The Creators are crazy. Why would anyone put teenagers in this awful place? And let some of us die? Why?
