A week had passed and as much as Astrid enjoyed the comfort of Hiccup's bed, she was sick of it being the only thing she saw.

Fortunately, her leg was healing up quite nicely and her cast had been replaced with a boot.

Hiccup had helped her clean her hair the day they got home and once she had braided it up in its usual style, she finally started to feel like herself again.

Hiccup was starting to get a little concerned, as Astrid hadn't said a word since the accident.

"Ready?" Hiccup smiled.

Astrid rolled her eyes playfully before grabbing his open arms and pulling herself to her feet.

It had been so long, it felt as though she was standing on clouds. She wobbled to maintain balance.

"I've got you." Hiccup reassured. Astrid chuckled, tapping her boot against his prosthetic. "Yup, you're just like me now!" He joked.

She rolled her eyes playfully before her fist collided with his arm.

"Ow! Well, at least we know you're back to full strength." He noted as he rubbed his newly bruised arm. She blushed before finally taking a step, it was shaky and wonky as she hobbled on her new boot. She fell against Hiccup's chest.

She looked up at him as he smiled down at her. She gently traced his lips with her finger. Hiccup had picked up on her new form of communication.

He slowly leaned in, brushing their lips together. Astrid was done waiting. She grasped his dark gray hoodie and crashed their lips together. He responded immediately.

"Yup, she's back." He muttered to himself, smiling from ear to ear. She turned to the door and then back up at her auburn-haired boyfriend.

"You wanna go downstairs?" He asked. She nodded, biting her lip playfully.

Hayden led her downstairs and into the lounge where Stoick was sat with Toothless.

Astrid glanced around the room in confusion.

"We wanted to wait until you were back on your feet before putting up the Christmas decorations- AH!" He yelped as her hand swung to his chest. "What?!" He shrieked.

She folded her arms and glared at him.

"Oh, sorry." He realized. "Snoggletog decorations." He corrected. Astrid giggled and nodded.

"Oh, you're not still on about those bleedin' dragons are you?"

"Yes, Dad. We are." Hiccup told him.

"Odin help me." Stoick sighed.

Suddenly Toothless burst in with something in his mouth.

"What you got there, Bud?" Hiccup took the envelopes from his Labrador.

"It's our college applications." He gasped in excitement. Astrid rushed over to him as quickly as she could. Her face was full of enthusiasm.

Stoick was at the edge of his seat and Toothless's tail was wagging in anticipation as the teens tore open their envelopes. Hiccup flicked through the papers.

"Yale, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Oxford, Princeton, Columbia, Berserker Art Institute, Sparwood." He listed.

Astrid stared wide-eyed and open-mouthed at her boyfriend. Of course, he had been accepted to some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

"What did you get?" He gestured to Astrid's papers. She handed them to Hiccup, who flicked through them. His face lit up with pride.

"Oxford, Ohio State, Auburn Athletic Academy, Kingsholt, Baylor University, and Sparwood." He read. "Astrid, that's amazing!"

After several hours of decorating, they were almost finished when there was a sudden crash in the kitchen.

"Astrid?!" Hiccup bolted into the kitchen faster than he could blink, to find Astrid pulling on the counter to bring herself to her feet. He darted to her side to pull her up. "Are you okay?" She nodded. "What happened?" She brushed his hand away and returned to her task.

"Astrid, what happened? Did you trip?" Hiccup panicked. She nodded once again before spinning him around and shooing him back into the lounge.

A few minutes passed and Toothless awoke on his bed by the fireplace, darting out of the room faster than a flash.

"Toothless?!" Hayden called after him. "Wonder what that was all about?" He asked his father, who shrugged in response. But, when Astrid entered the room with a tray full of drinks and an excited smile, he soon wished he had followed his dog.

"Here, I got that." He offered, taking the tray from her and placing it on the coffee table.

"Is this what I think it is?" Hiccup asked at a near groan. Astrid nodded enthusiastically.

Stoick took a look at the imaginary watch on his wrist. "Oh, wow. Is that the time? I better get back to work." He fibbed before heading into his study. Astrid picked up a mug and handed it to her auburn-haired boyfriend.

Hiccup gulped in fear of the torture he was about to endure.

"To Yaknog!" He raised a toast. He took a deep breath before downing the drink as quickly as he could. His face turned white as snow as he fought against the foul beverage traveling to his stomach. The things you do for love.

Astrid smiled, sleepily, fighting the urge to yawn.

"Let's get you back to bed." Hiccup suggested, sweeping her up in his arms.
