Morning had come. A ray of light leaked through the blinds and assaulted their eyelids. Astrid turned her body, breaking the seal of her warm imprint on the bed. A looming glow invaded the room; darkness turned to soft shadows. The day was about to break free.

Astrid scrambled to take hold of her cozy blanket and enveloped herself in it like a warm hug. A leg escaped from under the covers, hoping to find the perfect balance of warmth and coolness.

All she wanted at this moment was to binge-watch her dreams and sleep for a thousand years.

Hiccup woke up slowly, enjoying the light slanting through the window. His back arched and curled, becoming limber with movement. He was lost in the feel of sheets against his skin. He let himself float in the room's silence, only broken by the bird's morning greeting.

Astrid lay here, her hair splayed against the pillow. He ran his fingers through it, the dark giving it a rusted hue.

She felt Hiccup curl around her and turned towards him, nuzzling in like a newborn pup. One hand wrapped around his neck, lean fingers tangling in his hair. Her breath was soft against his cheek. Her eyelids fluttered as she slowly surfaced from wherever she wanders in her dreams.

When she finally shed sleep completely, it would be with a suddenness that is beautiful and baffling.

One moment she was curled into his side, the next, she was throwing the duvet off and pushing herself out of bed.

Hiccup held on desperately tugging her back in bed, trying to hold onto this moment.

"Where do you think you're going?" He smirked.

"To get a shower before class." She explained.

"There's plenty of time." He stated, pulling her close.

Astrid rolled her eyes and chuckled, but she didn't fight it. She rested her head against his bare chest and gently traced a finger across his stomach making constellations with his freckles. Hiccup chuckled at the sensation.

Astrid hummed, contently.

"How are you feeling?" Hiccup said softly.

"Good?" She smiled. "I feel good."

"Yeah?"

"What about you?" She asked. "How do you feel?"

Hiccup smiled and sighed peacefully.

"I feel... different."

Her head shot up.

"Good different?" She hoped.

"Good different." He confirmed.

She got lost in his eyes for a brief moment. Hiccup slowly leaned in, resting their foreheads together.

"You have never looked more beautiful." He whispered. Astrid bit her lip playfully before crashing their lips together like magnets. Hiccup was taken back for a second before finally reciprocating. His hand gently cupped her cheek, pulling her up towards him, only deepening the kiss.

"Oh, gods!!! Sorry, I didn't-" A voice was heard. A familiar voice. Though that knowledge was not at all comforting in their current situation.

"Heather?!" Hiccup jumped back while Astrid just closed her eyes and bit her lip, knowing that Heather had just caught them. Heather quickly looked away, covering her eyes with her hand.

"Did I-... I mean, were you-?"

"No." Astrid rolled her eyes as she shuffled around, tugging the sheets up to her neck.

"Not anymore," Hiccup muttered under his breath.

Astrid giggled.

"Okay, you know what? I'm just gonna take this..." Heather reached her hand out to the side, searching for her backpack. She finally found it and threw it on her back. "And shower over at Fishlegs' where I can't hear anything." She held back a squeal. "Don't mind me. You guys, carry on."

"Heather!" Astrid gasped.

Heather giggled at her flustered friends, both an equal shade of pink, not that she could see that of course.

"Astrid. We'll talk later."  She smirked as she turned to leave.

"Sure." Astrid chuckled.

"Wait, what?!" Hiccup gasped.

"Oh, come on, Hiccup." Astrid sighed. "Girls tell each other everything."

"Duh, du, duh. I'm dead." He sang jokingly before throwing his head back onto the cushions.

"Wow, that bad, huh?" Heather chuckled. "Don't worry, I don't need details. It's not like I need a diagram. But, maybe a blurry watercolor."

And with that, she left.

"Please tell me that was a metaphor!" Hiccup panicked.

"Relax, Hiccup. She's just teasing you." Astrid assured.

"That could not have been worse timing." Hiccup sighed.

"Well, it could. But let's not go there." She chuckled, shuffling out of the bed.

"Uh, Astrid. Before you go..." Hiccup halted.

"Kiss?"

"I was gonna go with clothes. But a kiss is good too." He smiled.
