❛JUST STOP.❜

It was pretty awkward.

Granted, they have never met, and here they were together in a cafe. What were they supposed to say? Todoroki didn't want to talk, and it seemed that Y/N didn't either. She ran her finger over the rim of her glass, taking a sip from her complimentary water. The two fathers were in another part of the cafe, laughing and talking it up like long-lost best friends.

So should he say something? Probably. Will he? No. He'll just eat his cold soba in silence.

Y/N: So, tell me more about your quirk.

So much for that.

He eyed her, his heterochromatic eyes scanning her deep brown ones, trying to make her back down. He was told his cold gaze could run chills up anyone's spine, so maybe he could get her to stop talking using that.

It wasn't working, though. She just stared back at him blandly, awaiting an answer. His eyes narrowed and he sighed.

Todoroki: I make ice on my right, fire on my left.

Keeping it simple.

But she wasn't letting up. She twirled her straw around her drink, her lips in a line as she talked.

Y/N: Yeah, everyone knows that.

His eyes widened in the slightest.

Y/N: But can you use both sides at once? What's the limit to your power? What are your weaknesses?

Todoroki: Why are you asking so many questions about my quirk? Is there something you're gaining from this?

The girl rose an eyebrow, smirking a little. She leaned back onto the booth and crossed one leg over the other.

Y/N: We're supposed to 'get acquainted' aren't we?

She made quotations around the two words his father said moments before.

Todoroki looked down at his soba, his brows furrowing in frustration. He didn't even want to talk. But if he had to, then...

Todoroki: If we're learning about each other, you should tell me about your quirk.

Y/N tilted her head slightly.

Todoroki: Think about it- you can learn a lot about me from the internet. I'm the number one hero's son and a student at UA.

He looked back at her, his glare cooler than before.

Todoroki: But I can't find anything about you, anywhere.

The intensity between their eyes grew, them having a stare-down. Neither of them blinked for a moment, Y/N's brows furrowing in a light scowl. It was as if she was thinking about what to say, or rather, how to say it.

After a few moments, she spoke.

Y/N: You're right.

She leaned forward again, resting her elbow on the table and placing her chin in it.

Y/N: My quirk is elemental fairy.

She regained eye contact.

Y/N: When activated, I get wings, the color varies depending on which element I'm using. Fire, air, water, earth. Only one at a time, though.

Todoroki nodded. She had a pretty powerful quirk, no wonder his dad was so excited about her. That didn't mean he was excited, though.

He had the upper hand now, he could ask her anything.

Todoroki: Why do you even want to do this?

Might as well ask that, right?

You could handle a few questions, easy. The question was if you were going to say the truth...

...or what Uncle Jon told you to say.

You returned your attention to your cup, thinking of your next words. You could get out of this situation, you could say that you didn't really want to do this at all.

But then again-

Y/N: Our children would be super powerful. Not to mention attractive.

You sent him a sultry grin and saw his eyes narrowed. He let out an annoyed sigh and looked back down at his food.

Then it was awkward again.

You knew off the bat that Todoroki wasn't much of a talker, and that he didn't choose to get married either. He didn't try to get to know you or act interesting whatsoever. The fact that you had to pretend to want to was kind of fucked, but that's how it was.

Y/N: So, you like cold soba, right?

He nodded softly, not looking up at you.

Y/N: I know how to make that. I can bake pretty well, too.

No response. You tried again.

Y/N: I'm really good with kids, too. I have a bunch of little cousins that I babysit with Miki-

Todoroki: Just stop.

You paused, taken aback. You'd expected him to keep ignoring you, but he looked really angry. His brows furrowed and he scowled at his plate.

You shrugged nonchalantly despite your temporary shock.

Y/N: I'm just trying-

Todoroki: I know. But stop.

He got up and walked off to his dad's table, presumably to tell him he's done talking to you. Pretty soon the two men got up, shook hands, and your 'father' started walking towards you with a slight frown.

You said your goodbyes and Enji promised to call Uncle Jon later, and pretty soon you were in the car going back to the hotel.

Jonathan: -and he said he's gonna put us in a house he owns with a big backyard, because I told him you like gardening, and we're already looking at wedding venues, and-

Y/N: Yeah, I get it, you found yourself a sugar daddy.

You leaned on the window of the car as your uncle rambled on and on about how amazingly rich his future ' brother-in-law' was. How serious was he about this? Did he seriously think you were just down to get married? You played along with Todoroki just so you wouldn't get yelled at later but this was getting out of hand.

Todoroki... you blinked as a raindrop fell onto the window. You sighed. He wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be, but damn he's rude.

Whatever, I don't need to be friends with him anyway. I'll find a way out of this soon enough.
