I have been confused with my feelings ever since Natalie and I started dating. I always feel so loved every time we are together. She has always been the perfect girlfriend. I won't deny it. She is very understanding and thoughtful. She writes me letters that melts my insides. I never imagined it will end when I started tutoring Red. I've been his study-buddy since our Sophomore years, but I never really appreciated Red back then. It started when I slept over at Red's, because a storm brewed when we were studying for our finals exam. We shared his bed, since it was big enough for the two of us. He easily fell asleep, he was tired with all the reviewing we did. He lied on the bed with both his hands behind his head. From that moment, I slowly appreciated his long eye lashes, his reddish lips and how his hair falls on his forehead. My heart skipped a beat. I ignored the feeling that I know I can't really ignore. After that day, Natalie told me that I have been distant with her, giving her pathetic excuses for not calling or texting her. This went on for a month and Natalie still hold on to our relationship. I knew I had to do something, so I ended it.
------
"James?" Natalie finally spoke.
I had no choice, but to stay in place. I sat back down and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Is that beer?" she asked. She looks at me with confusion. She knows that I don't drink, because I become a different person which scares her.
"Uh, vodka. Crazy party, aye?" i said, trying to open a new topic.
Ara glares at me, raising an eyebrow. God, I hate that bitch. I ignored her knowing she is just trying to intimidate me.
"So, are you looking for another girl to screw up their lives?" Ara said sarcastically. Jasmine nudged her and glared at her as well.
"Look, I didn't know you were here. I didn't bring my glasses so I didn't notice that you guys were here." i explained.
I hear moaning beside me. At least someone is having a good time. I can't believe they are still making out.
"Uh, so, James... This is... Lorenzo... I-I don't know if you know him, but he a-also goes to our school..." Natalie stammered. She just stares at the fire trying to avoid eye contact with me.
Lorenzo raised his hand. He is wearing a brown jacket topping a white shirt. His curly hair is a mess, but it still fits him.
"Nice to meet you." he said. His voice so deep.
I smiled at him. I don't know how to escape this awkward situation. I don't know if she moved on or what, but is she dating him? Or did Ara set her up to him? I could've cared less, but I don't think I am ready to see her with another guy, yet.
"Lorenzo here is the President of the school editorial team." Ara brags.
"Cool." i said emotionless trying to decode Natalie's emotions about what is going on. She can't seem to grab a hold of herself. She's just staring at the fire, then to the two beside me who is making out, then to her friends.
"It's not a big deal actually, I heard you're a writer as well?" he said humbly.
"Uh-yeah. But I keep my works to myself." I replied then took a sip on my drink. I can already feel my cheeks warming up.
"I'll just get another one. See you guys later." i said. Finally, an excuse to leave.
"Don't drink..." Natalie stopped when Jasmine grabs her arms.
I pretended not to hear her so I didn't bother looking back. I went inside and let out a sigh of relief. I won't go back there. Ara is driving me insane. Well, also the fact that my ex is there with another guy. I grabbed another cup of vodka. I searched the living room for Nicole, the music isn't too loud anymore. The drunken teenagers must've had enough. I saw Red talking to another guy. I gulped the vodka all at once. I need to loosen up. I approached Red feeling a little cocky.
