"Welcome to the afterlife, Izuku," I say brightly, watching in his mindscape as he slowly comes around. "It's about time!"

"The afterlife?" he asks, sounding distressed. "I'm dead? I didn't even get to find out what my quirk was!"

I chuckle. "I am your quirk. You were born with the ability to reincarnate with incredible power if you died a heroic death; now it's time for your second chance."

His eyes light up with excitement. "I can have another chance? I can still be a hero!"

"Yes, but it comes at a cost," I warn. I'm actually making this up, but hey, I have all the power here. "I get to take something from you of my choosing."

Izuku hesitates. "This isn't going to be one of those deals where you take my humanity or my kindness, is it?" he asks. For once, I appreciate his paranoia.

"I could do that, but I won't. I'm a manifestation of your quirk, after all; everything I do is to help you."

He nods his head. "So, what happens now?"

"Now, I give you your power. When you reincarnate, you get to have any quirk of your choosing. You can even make up a quirk of your own, as long as it's a realistic quirk with proper limitations and effects," I say proudly. I've been waiting for this day for a long time, so I can't help but be excited. With his skill in quirk analysis and his high intelligence, I can't wait to see what kind of idea he'll come up with!

"Hey, wait a second!" he protests. "I'm really getting reincarnated? Did I have a quirk all along?"

"Yes, you did," I say simply, nodding. "Now, choose a quirk!"

"But what about the doctor? He said that I wouldn't have a quirk, because of my toe joint, or whatever!" he insists. "I need some answers!"

"Yeah, you just got unlucky," I say. "He should probably be fired; he was looking at someone else's foot."

Izuku blinks once, staring at me. "Seriously?" he asks. "That's it?"

"Yeah, yeah. He made a dumb mistake. Anyway, you should really choose a quirk, so you can get back to your life!" I say meaningfully. "The longer you stay dead, the longer your friends and family think you've actually died."

"Oh, right! Man, I need to get back—what do I do again?"

I stare at him. I am fully aware of how insanely powerful of a quirk I am. I'm basically a cheat code to life, and yet I end up stuck with this idiot? "Choose any quirk you want. I've said that three times already."

"I... don't know," he says, hesitating. "I could choose a quirk like one of the top heroes, or I could make up my own that could be equally powerful and useful. But, wouldn't that be unfair? I guess I should choose one that is less powerful, since—"

I cut him off, shaking my head in exasperation. "Okay, nevermind. I choose the quirk, since obviously you can't be trusted to choose what's best for you."

"What?" he asks, having the nerve to sound offended.

"Listen, I've been stuck in your head for your entire life, and I'm tired of watching you be powerless. Unfair? What would be unfair is you intentionally choosing to have less power, and someone dying because you couldn't save them," I snap at him. I really should have seen this coming, I guess.

I think for a minute. The original plan was to give him power and watch as he used it, but now I'm not so sure. Is there a quirk I could choose that might keep me involved? Heaven knows he'll need my guidance in the future.

A slow smile spreads over my face. "Alright, you'll find out what your quirk is when you wake up. Just so you know, you only get to die once. Next time you die, there is no reincarnation. Probably. I guess it depends on the quirk I chose..."
