*Y/N'S POV*

"Don't look now Y/N but he's staring again." Natasha hands me a drink. I smile at her as a thank you.

"Good for him. I'm just going to enjoy this party Tony threw for me. Even if somehow Bucky was invited." I took a sip of my drink. Strong, as usual. Staying sober when Natasha is at the bar is never possible.

Natasha smirked at me and started to speak, but I saw Bruce walking up. "Oh, big green on the way. Have fun girl." I blew her a kiss and walked  away. Moving to the other side of the room I saw her face light up while they spoke. I smiled to myself, I can't imagine two people more deserving of happiness.

"Lady Y/N! I'm thrilled I could be here for your birthday! And thank you especially for inviting my brother. He is honored to be here." Thor practically yelled, which was about the usual. Very few people turned their heads to look at the large man with the booming voice anymore.

Loki came from behind him, "yes, thank you. Happy birthday, Y/N."

Wow, he looks great. In a all black suit with a green tie, his hair was pushed back, but a stray hair dangled in his face. "Thank you, Loki. You clean up well. I'm glad you made it." I smiled and he returned the gesture.

I wandered around, thanking people for coming. Most of the party had started to die down, leaving only the Avengers and Loki. Everyone made their way to the couch and discussed what game to play. Someone said truth or dare and there was an immediate and  firm "No" coming from Bucky, who had been silently leaning against the window behind us. I looked at the ground and sipped my drink.

Not long after, I saw a pair of shoes close to me. "I don't mean to overstep, but I do happen to read minds. I may have...unintentionally read yours and I have some thoughts. If you're interested." Loki looked me directly in the eyes, as he had this whole night. Which surprised me, even Steve stole a peek or two at my chest tonight.

"I'm sorry, how do you unintentionally read someone's mind?" I smirked.

Loki pushed his hair back and leaned against the bar next to me. "Where I'm from, the minds are harder to read. It's more like I have to force myself to not read minds here. I promise, I meant no disrespect." I smiled and he continued. "I understand there was an incident with the soldier there. And while you may think it was a regret, he does not."

Loki continued talking, "he cares for you. Yet he's afraid to harm you." I stared at him blankly. "You don't believe me." I shook my head. "I can prove it, if you allow." Still in shock, I just nodded. Loki leaned in and whispered in my ear, putting his hand on my back. "He's looking now isn't he? He hasn't looked away since I walked over here. I'm going to touch you, then we're going to walk away, preferably to somewhere private. I will behave, I promise. Is this okay?"

I feel his hand slowly move to my lower back, and then my ass. I turned my face to look directly at him and smiled. "Yes." He gestured for me to lead the way, and I did.

We approached my bedroom and I opened the door letting Loki in first. He walked in, hands behind his back, looking at my decor. I felt my nerves catch up to me as he sat on my bed. He patted the pillows next to him, I sat across from him instead. "So...what now? How does this prove anything?"

Loki gave a toothy smile, one I rarely see. "Now, we wait. You will get your proof. In the mean time, I'm sure we can figure something out while we wait. Or we can just talk. Whatever you desire, it is your birthday, after all.

I giggled. "Is this your present to me? Making another guy jealous?"

His eyes met mine. "If that is what you desire." I gulped. I have never been alone in a room with Loki before and his presence was captivating. I always found him attractive, but never to the point where I had butterflies begging me to just touch him, be closer to him. Until now. He moved himself closer to me and leaned in, I froze. "Is this okay?" I must've had a puzzled look on my face because he whispered just barely loud enough for me to hear, "he's listening." I knew Bucky's hearing was enhanced, but not to what extent.

I let out a sigh that sounded similar to a moan, "Yes, I like that." I saw a grin on Loki's face before I heard a very loud and sudden knock at my door. "One minute!" I yelled. Waiting a few moments before I answered the door. Loki grabbed my hand and squeezed, and I knew he was saying "I told you so."

I answered the door and saw Bucky pacing. "Oh, hey Buck, what's up?"

"Is Loki in here?" Right to the point.

I put on a confused look and opened the door more so he could see Loki on my bed. "Yeah, why do you need him?"

"No."

"Then how can I help you?" I asked. He said nothing. Just stared at me. "You know Loki reads minds, right? If you want I can just get him and he can tell me what it is you need." I started to turn towards Loki and Bucky grabbed my hand.

He sighed, "can we just talk...outside the room?" I nodded and closed my door behind me  making sure to shoot Loki a smile first. I turned to look at Bucky and waited for him to explain. He now dropped my hand. "You can do better than Loki."

I looked at him in shock, I was not prepared for that at all. "I don't know what you mean."

He looked at the ground when he explained. "I don't know if you're lonely or just want someone to....be with tonight... but you can do better than him."

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I'll just go pick from my long line of people interested." I pointed at the empty hallway.

Bucky hesitated before continuing. "What about Sam? You guys are close."

"Of course we're close. He's my best friend. And yours, so I'm sure you know that it's not like that for us."

"What about Steve?"

I couldn't control myself. I burst out laughing. "Steve? You think Captain America the super soldier who can have anyone he wants, would want me? You're funny, Buck."

He didn't find it funny. "I think he would, I'll talk to him."

"What?"

Bucky smiled, "I'm setting you up with Steve. How's tomorrow night? He'll pick you up."

I just stared at him, lost for words before I said, "okay." And Bucky smiled before turning and walking away.

I walked back into my bedroom, I almost forgot Loki was on my bed. He had taken off his shoes and was laying over my covers. "So date with Captain America, huh?"

I laid next to him, "honestly, I don't know what happened. But I don't think that proved he likes me. So, at the very least I got to prove you wrong."

Laughing, Loki pulled me onto his chest and pushed my hair out of my face before saying, "we'll see about that, my dear." He continued playing with my hair and said "I'd like to stay the night here if you don't mind. It's either this or share a bed with my brother." He rolled his eyes and I giggled.

"So that's what this is all about? Using me for a bed to sleep in." I joked.

Loki chuckled, I have never seen him in such a good mood before. "Something like that." He paused, like he was unsure of what he wanted to say next. "I don't mean to overstep, but something you said to Winter Soldier out there didn't sit right with me." I sat my head up so I could look at him as he continued. "You are nothing short of astounding. You could have anyone you wanted. Any mortal, super soldier, or god... would be blessed to have your company in any situation. Please never think anything less of yourself." He kissed my forehead and I laid it back on his chest.

"You can stay here tonight, Loki. I don't mind. And thank you. For everything." I closed my eyes and listened to his breathing and felt myself start to drift to sleep.

"Of course. Happy birthday, my dear."
