(14) Truth Bombs All Around

Two weeks later 

Everyone was gathered at city hall dressed in formal wear for a charity ball. The ball was being hosted by the Starks. The charity was for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation and suicide awareness. 

The Barnes were already there as Governor James always makes sure he's early at any event he's invited to. As they were sipping drinks and talking amongst them selves. Kelsea came down the stairs in a red dress red lip stick and her hair slicked back into a perfect bun. Her red dress had a small train. 

Behind her was Jason and Abigail as they came down the stairs. Also behind them was MJ and Peter. 

Bucky gulped when he seen her. Scott was still working on getting him information. As the night began to really take off. Tony stepped up on the stage with his dad. 

"Good evening everyone. Tonight is all about giving and this cause is a new one for us. That's why the charity hadn't been named when invites had gone out. But this one is very dear to my family's heart. We found out just recently that my sister Sylvia suffered a brain aneurysm and passed away." Tony said 

"But as you all know Sylvia left the family after a falling out. When she left she was pregnant with a baby girl. That baby girl has been brought back into our lives everyone please meet our grand daughter Kelsea Isabella Franklin. A graduate from Columbia University with three degrees engineering business and accounting. And is now a third head CEO of Parker Industries." Howard said 

Bucky whispered "oh god.." 

James swallowed hard as did his dad. 

As the night wore on Winnie noticed Abigail. She looked vaguely familiar to her so she finally approached her. 

"Hi I'm Winnie Barnes.. have we met before? You look really familiar." Winnie said 

"No I don't believe we have. But you probably met my mother..she use to work for your husband." Abby said 

"Who was your mother?" Winnie said as James came over to his wife with her drink. 

"My mother was Debra Tyree.." She said causing James to freeze. 

"Oh I remember her. She was always so lovely and nice. What ever happened to her?" Winnie said 

"Oh she died when I was 15." She said 

"Oh that sucks honey I'm sorry. She must of had you after she quit cause I don't ever remember seeing her at the office pregnant." Winnie said 

Abby smiled. "You should talk to your husband here about that. He and your father in law are the reason she quit. I'm his daughter Winnie..and they tried to pay her off. I'm four years older than little James." She said 

"Oh so like father like son." Kelsea said 

By then the whole family had migrated and heard the whole thing. Bucky cut her a look.

"What do you mean?" Winnie said 

"Oh you don't know? James here tried to do the same thing his father did my mom. Seems your marriage isn't so perfect after all. Or your family considering that one knocked her up and left her to deal with it on her own." Abby said as she pointed to Bucky. 

Bucky looked down as Winnie felt tears fall down her face. 

"So like I said like father like son." Kelsea said as she walked off. 

"Mom.." Bucky whispered 

"I can't even look at you..all of you." Winnie said as she ran off in tears.

"It was you! It was you that hurt her! After all I have done for you all pulling out all the stops for your campaign!" Tony snapped as he went to find Kelsea. 

"How could you dad? You know what mom went through after Delaney was a still birth. You have an affair? Let's go baby." Duncan said as he and his wife left. 

Deacon just shook his head at his family as he and wife walked off. 

"I can't believe you James. I kinda half expect this out of dad cause we all know he's a dick. But you I expected better." Donovan said 

"Don, I'm sorry." Bucky said 

"I'm not the one you need to apologize to. Maybe you should start with someone who probably does not knowing her husband had an affair. You should also apologize to that sweet girl that didn't deserve it. And maybe be a better man than dad. Goodnight everybody." Donovan said as he took his wife's hand. 

Bucky looked down as he slowly started to leave. When James arrived home he found Winnie tossing his shit out in the front yard. 

"Winnie that's my stuff!" He said 

"And I want you out! How could you!" Winnie snapped 

"Winnie darlin calm down. It was a long time ago I have been faithful to you since that happened!" James said 

Winnie smacked across the face. "Get the hell out of my face James! I don't believe you and I don't trust you! So go stay somewhere else! I can't even look at you!" Winnie said as she stood in the doorway. 

"Winnie this is my house too." James said 

"I will call the cops James. Leave." She said as she held her cellphone. 

James picked up all the stuff in the yard and got in his car. He made his way to his parents house.
