Chapter 7

Stan remained shocked even after his now ex-girlfriend (again) left the farm, without first breaking his heart (fucking again). You felt a great tightness in your heart when Stan's eyes filled with tears that streamed down his cheeks.

"... Cuz, are you ...?" Before you could finish speaking, you were startled when your cousin jumped into your arms and held on tightly in his embrace. "Okay?"

"Why? Why does she cause me so much pain, but I still can't stop loving her?" He asked between loud sobs, bursting into tears.

"Shhh it's okay, I'm here." You murmured in a comforting whisper, while patting him on the back.

The two of you stayed that way for a long time, until you sat in the rocking chair with him in your arms, while the two of you finally had a serious conversation in person.

"As an intelligent person, I know that I'm beeing stupid for returning to her after all that she has already done for me."

"But?" You asked.

"But ... I, I don't know, I'm so afraid to be alone for the rest of my life if we both break up forever, she was also the only woman I ever loved in this life ..."

Suddenly, he stopped talking when you started laughing.

"What are you laughing at?" He asked curiously, raising an eyebrow.

"Stan honey, you're only 12, you still have a lifetime to go. You'll meet a lot of people and will fall in love a lot of times too."

"But what if I don't? What if I stay single forever and die lonely in a nursing home after eating sugar-free cereal?" He asked, in a desperate tone of voice.

"I know you won't, you're really smart, funny, adorable and very handsome. And what's the problem with being single? There's more to life than just finding love, take a break from that. You have no reason to feel alone, you have me, your sister, your parents and your friends. You'll be missing out on so many good things in life, for something that isn't worth it."

Stan was silent, thinking about everything you said. Until he decided to ask something.

"What if.. What if she changes?"

You sighed. He really liked her, but that toxic relationship was not good for him, you were 110% realistic.

"Stan, it's been years and it hasn't changed. It's just that when you break a mirror, it's better to leave it broken than to get hurt trying to fix it."

Stan let out a sad sigh and fixed his gaze on the sun on the horizon, while of the tears he was trying to hold, one escaped and rolled down his cheek.

Maybe the time has come for him to let go and move on for now.

A small smile formed on his lips, when he remembered that he would not go through that difficult time alone, his family and his best friend were there.

"Thank you. So much." He murmured in a tearful voice, as he gave you another hug.

You smiled, feeling a nice warmth in your heart.

"Don't forget that I love you and I'll always be here for you." You said, while you started stroking his head.

After a while, his head started to fall to the side, when he started to fight against his sleep. Until, his head rested on your chest and he fell asleep. Not having the courage to move so as not to wake him, you remained there. After a while, without realizing it, you fell asleep too.

The next day, at 6 o'clock at night, you took a shower and started getting ready for your 1st date. Your heart throbbed with happiness just at the thought that you would see Kenny's beautiful face soon again, it was only 1 day, but you missed him so much.
