Tae ra looked so homely wearing his sweatshirt and pants. A girl would wear, if she stayed over at her boyfriend's place.
But not a girl from his high school who met him after years and now they had spent two nights under one roof.
The thought of explaining the situation to his mother made him tired.
His mother can be so dramatic over these things. So he chose the wisest path.
Continue the drama that his mother enjoyed.
His mother would be heartbroken when he would say they broke up after a few months from now but that was a lot easier than explaining the thing that the girl wasn't his girlfriend but staying over his place and wearing his clothes.
She would be fine.
She had gone through this before.
Ji hyun was chopping the cilantros in his kitchen while the ladies bunched up in the living room.
They were talking, actually his mother and mrs hong was talking. Tae ra only laughed and smiled shyly sometimes.
Ji hyun was constantly looking at tae ra, trying to sense any kind of discomfort in her face.
He knew how extra his mother and mrs hong could be. He feared tae ra might get upset or they over do.
But he could only see tae ra giggling from time to time.
They made eye contact a few times and each time Ji hyun's concerned eyes asked her if she was okay or feeling pressured.
She answered with a tender smile every single time.
"Dinner's ready, ladies" Ji hyun called out as soon as he was done dressing his soup.
"Our Ji hyun is such a husband material. I didn't try to match up with my sister's daughter for no reason. You will be a one lucky girl" mrs hong commented as she took her seat, plastering the brightest smile on her face.
"Does knowing how to cook make him a husband material? Isn't it a basic thing every human should know?" His mother said with a lovely smile as she gently made tae ra seated beside Ji hyun when she noticed tae ra was grabbing the seat across him and leaving the seat for his mother.
"I bet Ji hyun will be the luckiest if he can win over tae ra's heart to marry him" his mother finished when she was already seated and with a big, bright, genuine smile on her face.
Tae ra shifted her head a little to see Ji hyun and caught his eyes as he was already looking at her.
"I know it's hard," Ji hyun said without breaking the eye contact.
His eyes were so dim but there was an unknown spark.
There was guilt.
Regret.
Pain.
Hope?
He broke the eye contact before tae ra could read more.
He let out a heavy breath before raising his head to see his mother, seating across him.
"Now focus on the soup. Today's episode of minding my son's life ends here" Ji hyun said with a smug smile on his face.
"Your father is the one who is more stressed about your love life. He disbelieves his own son is not married yet where he won me in his early twenties" his mother sighed as she finished her first spoon.
"Once you told me you had to marry dad because he made you pregnant when you're 18. I can't believe you guys try to give me relationship advices" Ji hyun said, acting disbelieved while his hidden grin showed up as his mother threw her napkin at him.
