"Hey, Mr Stark..." Peter acknowledges, his eyes heavy with sleep. His stomach felt like someone had grabbed a blunt tree saw and dragged it across, leaving him in a world of pain.
"Kid." He says shortly, his eyes never the screen of the StarkPad. Peter knows that's not a good sign.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone out without my suit and in the end, I tried to fight a group of man... But they just kept coming and coming. I was tired, Mr Stark..." He rambles, his wide eyes watching his mentor closely. His facade was calm but his eyes... Well, it looked like a storm of rage was swirling in his eyes. It's kind of frightening to see.
"I know you didn't." He says after a period of silence. Finally, Tony looks up, the heat was still there but not as much as it was when he was looking at the pad.
"How're you feeling?" Tony asks, his eyes warm though there was a hint of lack of lack of sleep, he could also tell by the bags under his eyes.
Peter takes a moment to think, his head felt like someone had shoved cotton up his nose, and his mouth had the taste of rust. His legs felt like lead so did the rest of his body.
"Tired." He murmured, putting all of his effort into rubbing his eyes, something he regrets doing because his arms are falling back down on to the bed. What sort of medication is he on?
"Painkillers."
"Who were these men?" He asks, his eyes boring into Peter's. "I don't know, Mr Stark. I was just walking, decided to take a short cut through an alley you know? I thought I was safe because, well, I'm Spider-Man, and soon I was overpowered."
Tony knows Peter's hiding something. He knows that he wasn't just jumped. The watch on his wrist had Karen and Friday codes into it, so he could monitor Peter live. He also knows that Peter was in Hell's Kitchen. Lord knows why.
"Could it be possible that you were following up on a lead?" He asks, hinting that he knows Peter wasn't giving the full truth.
"Without my suit? Mr Stark, you know I wouldn't do it!"
Peter knows that Tony could see through his bullshit. Hell, it's Tony Stark for crying out loud, he could never fully or properly lie to his mentor without the man finding out. Like that time with the ferry, the attention Tony has is amazing. He knows what to look for to get into one's head and make them reveal what he wants but Tony wouldn't purposely do it Peter, he cares too much for him to break that trust.
"Okay, you need some rest, what do you want? Orange juice? Churros?"
A small blush settles on Peter's cheeks, he knows Tony has heard the voicemails. He also knows that Tony just loves to tease him about it.
"Just the Orange Juice, please?" With a nod, Tony's strutting out the room, leaving Peter to gather his jumbled thoughts.
Who were they? Why did they have a foreign accent? Plus, why were they cornering a blind a man with red glasses? Don't they know respect?
A small huff escapes Peter, he's too tired to think about all of this stuff.
So, rolling over, he shits his eyes closed and waits for sleep to take him away.
