When It Rains

Chapter 13

SERENITY SLOWLY OPEN HER EYES and scan the whole place. Nang mapansin na wala siya sa kan'yang kwarto ay nagsimula siyang magpanic. But then she remember she's with Dean last night. That made her calm.

By judging the place and remembering some things, she must be in his room.

She grunted and sat down. She feels dizzy but still force herself to move. Nang makaupo ay doon lang niya napansin si Dean na nakaupo sa may foyer habang nakapikit. He's sleeping.

Kahit medyo nahihilo ay tumayo siya at naglakad papunta sa kinaroroonan nito. She squatted at the side of his legs and stare at his face. After a minute, her hand went up to slowly trace his face.

Handsome. At the moment she considered herself lucky to have him. They are just starting their relationship and no one knows what's ahead of them. Therefore, she thought it would be better if they will start fresh and nice.

But then...it rains. He must be wondering what's wrong with her earlier.

"Uh..." She stumble a little when he open his eyes. Nang makita siya nito ay hinawakan nito ang kamay niya at pinatayo.

"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" He asked—clearly sounded so worried. He's awake yet he looks dazed.

"I-I'm fine." Her throat feels dry.

He let out a sigh of relief and hug her. "Are you hungry?" He asked after a while—still hugging her.

"Kinda..."

Kumalas ito sa yakap niya at hinalikan siya sa noo. Serenity look down. "I apologize if I caused you trouble earlier."

"It's okay." He cupped her cheeks. "But if you're not feeling well, tell me, okay? So I could do something about it."

She let out a weak smile and nod. Nang makababa silang pareho ay napansin ni Serenity na umuulan pa rin sa labas. Kapagkuwan ay kumunot ang noo niya nang madilim pa rin ang kalangitan.

She look for any clock in the first floor and when she realize it was just four in the morning, her mouth parted open. I woke up too early. What is happening? Then she remember Dean's sleeping position when she saw him. So he've been in that position since last night?

Both of them entered the kitchen and he made her sit on the counter. Since malapit lang 'yon sa cooking area. Sabi rin kasi ng binata na ayaw nitong masyado siyang malayo kapag nagluluto ito.

"Hindi ka kakain?" Tanong niya sa binata nang mapansin na siya lang ang pinaghandaan nito. He shook his head and put rice on her plate. Hindi na niya ito muli pang tinanong at tahimik na kumain. While Dean just stare at her the whole time.

Pati sa pagliligpit ng mga pinagkainan ay ito pa rin ang kumilos. She wanted to clean it herself but he insisted. Kaya lumabas nalang siya ng kusina at sa pamamagitan ng grid glass walls, pinagmamasdan niya ang malakas na ulan sa labas.

Hearing the sound of it makes her sadder. Since being in sorrow happens to her everytime it rains, it didn't took a while for the bad memories to invade her thoughts.

In the depths of it, she unconsciously walk towards the door—planning to be under the rain and soak herself wet.

But then, a set of arms hug her from behind.

Para rin siyang nabalik sa kasalukuyan at natigilan. Because she feels disoriented, she didn't react and let him.

"I made you some tea." He spoke in a low voice.

Still in daze—she nod. She can feel his hand hold hers and guide her to the closed balcony. Hindi niya alam kung 'yon ba talaga ang tawag doon. Pinaupo siya ng binata sa two-person couch. May dalawang teacup na ang nakalagay doon at air humidifier sa gitna. The smell from it shouts gentle lavender to calm someone's nerves.
